Hotel Apartamentos Solimar in Calafell

Great location, 2 minutes walk to beach. Central location for shops, restaurants and bars. Easy walk to train station. Old hotel but very well kept. Spacious rooms with small kitchenette. No kettle or toaster. 2 ring hob, microwave, fridge. Bring your own ttowel/ wash up supplies. Air con in living area and effective fan in twin bedroom. Comfortable beds. over bath shower even if old fashioned. Some toiletries supplied. Great daily housekeeping, lots of fresh towels. Lots of seating and Comfortable public areas, outdoor and under cover. 2 small pools. One with walk in steps. Never crowded. Adequate sun loungers but not very comfortable. Bar and restaurant on site. Full board available. Can only comment on breakfast which was adequate. Cereals, porridge, nat yoghurt, rolls, bread for toasting, croissants and selection of sweet biscuits and pancakes. Bacon, spiced sausage, fried eggs or Spanish omelette. Cold meats, cheese and tomato. Would have liked a bigger selection of fruit. Wine in bar keep changing brand! No consistency with staff service. Complimentary drink on check-in for some guests was restricted to wine, beer or soft drink, while others were given choice of full bar selection. The guest photo to characature taken at reception was a nice touch.

Came here for the High Rockabilly festival. Hotel very nice and clean, lovely pools with plenty of sunbeds. Staff very helpful. Rooms are nice and spacious, stayed self catering. Small cook stove, no problem. Fridge in room. Plenty of towels. Short walk to the beach and busy shops/restaurants and bars. Downside.... room faced the train station and the noise from the trains all day can be quite annoying. Also either take a travel kettle or you need to ask reception for one if they haven't already all gone. Apart from that, I would definitely recommend.

We stayed at Hotel Solimar in Calafell (rooms 343 and 332, from the 16th to the 26th) and had a fantastic experience. From the owners who took time and time again making sure everything went - was perfect, to the kitchen, restaurant and cleaning staff, everyone was kind and attentive. Warm, family vibe, top notch.

I always stay at the Solimar for the Hogh Rockabilly festival it’s has a great location central to all amenities and close to the beach but small enough for the personal touch, so you can relax the food buffet is a good selection and very good desert rays each day. The staff are super friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend a stay here and good value for money. I stay half board and in a pool view apartment which are basic and clean with forage cooker ring clean and a daily maid service who are great.

We stayed for a week, we stayed half board with buffet breakfasts and buffet dinner. They were good, with lots to choose from.
We stayed in a premium terrace room which was lovely - the terrace was massive and had views of the pools and the evening entertainment. The hotel it self it’s good - it’s a good 3 stars. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The maid who cleaned the rooms each day were amazing - very clean to a high standard.

Our two boys loved the pools and the two playground. The kids club and the evening entertainment for more geared to Spanish kids but our kids still enjoy what they put on.

Evening entertainment was fun, the bar served good drinks. With all the waiters being very friendly. It would have been nice if there was a snack menu for lunchtime but it didn’t really bother us too much as we popped out to the supermarket around the corner if we needed anything.

Our room had a stove and microwave which was very handy to cook stuff in the room for the kids!

The location was great - 1 min walk to the beach. So handy!

Overall a great stay, I would recommend to families for a pool/beach holiday.

Great value - we booked directly with the hotel over email and was very easy!

We stayed with my parents and the hotel even gave us a wheelchair for the whole week for my dad to use - great service

I stayed at the Solimar again, each year this is my preferred place, rooms are basic but clean and good daily maid service, it has good security and Food is ok for price and it’s close to the sea front and bars. The staff are super helpful and as it is a smaller hotel You get some peace and quiet. Rooms have air con and a kettle upon request. I’ve stayed a most of the hotels on this resort and this is my fav.

Our room was across the road from the railway track so we were constantly disturbed by trains sounding their horns at 6.00am and frequently after that, the room did not have a kettle so we had to use a pot (shown) the kitchenette was very basic just two Two rings ,I feel this description of room views is not accurate for example "mountain view" this is a tiny view of the top of a mountain miles away (see photo) " garden view" there is no garden . The floor had not been cleaned so I reported it and it was cleaned 10 minutes later, the daily cleaning was very good, the staff are all lovely, the pool area is a lovely relaxing area and very clean, the location is a stones throw from the beautiful beach and all the shops. There are approximately four lifts and toilets in the reception area. I would definitely stay again.
