Expensive hotel with lower than average facilties
They advertise a water park when in reality it's just the use of the local municipal pool down the road. The evening entertainment is poor, the bar is soulless, the receptionists are unfriendly and unhelpful. I arrived back at the room at 22.30 at night to find the bathroom roof collapsed and workmen in the room. The receptionists made me feel I was the onen being unreasonable for questioning what the problem was and if it could be quickly fixed. On a positive note, the rooms are clean and have a nice view.

Be careful, the hotel doesn't have a pool. We went because of the slides for children, and the pool they offer is a public one with no grass and a fee for sun loungers, which anyone can access. It's also located opposite the beach, just a short walk away. Regarding the food and cleanliness, everything was perfect. But calling a hotel "Acualandia" that doesn't have anything to get wet in is a bit misleading.

The room was uncleaned!! The bed was covered in hair, the bathroom was full of urine, the sofa was covered in cookie crumbs, and the entire kitchen area, glasses, and cutlery were covered in oil. The "buffet" was a disgrace!! Fish in sauce, pasta with tomato sauce, ham and cheese, and some stuffed eggs that looked like plastic—all inedible!! We had to leave at 10 pm to find somewhere to have dinner with my 83-year-old grandmother!! And let's not even talk about the terrible service from one of the receptionists (a dark-haired girl, because they wouldn't tell us her name) who treated us terribly, mocking us and acting like she was full of herself, telling us that if we didn't like it, we knew what to expect!! We had to file a complaint and cancel our stay, and now they only want to refund half my money!! They advertise it as a 4-star hotel, but it's not even 1 star; it's awful!! BEWARE OF THIS "HOTEL," if you can even call it that!

Clean hotel. Welcoming staff. Decent breakfast with a good selection. Sea view. Staff didn't speak any French. Be aware there's no soundproofing, so you can hear everything the upstairs neighbors do, including the toilets flushing. Many Spanish families don't respect the peace and quiet of a hotel or the other guests. We had a Spanish family with children who shouted above us and made noise until about 11:00 or 11:30 PM every day, so don't expect to go to bed before then. The swimming pool is 200 meters from the hotel, but the water slides are only accessible from 5:00 PM.

The hotel is very nice, very close to the beach, and the views from the terrace are fantastic. We also liked the buffet; it had a good variety and was very clean. It's a little far from the center and the castle, but you can easily take the bus. The only thing that will make me think twice about returning is the awful experience my daughter had when she went to rest on the sofa bed. She woke up with thousands of ants on her pillow, hair, and clothes—it was absolutely disgusting; she almost had a fit. She refused to sleep on the sofa anymore, and we had to put her in the bed. For a four-star hotel that isn't cheap at all, they should be a bit more careful with cleanliness. The worst part is that no one apologized.

Terrible hotel...it doesn't deserve 4 stars, 3 at most, and that's being generous. There's no pool in the hotel; the photos make it seem like the hotel has one, but there's actually a sports complex with water slides 150 meters away. The elevators are a disaster. The food is awful. When you go to get dinner, lunch, or breakfast, there's absolutely nothing. The food selection is very limited, and there's very little variety; it's always the same. The best thing about the hotel is its location, right across from the beach. I won't be back.

The service is terrible, everyone treats you badly, they're thieves who keep your deposit because supposedly things disappear/break even when you've left the room and everything is perfect, when they come up to check the room minutes later they magically find some damage, they're not serious at all because they tell you when you're leaving and don't even let you check if it's true or not.

I'm currently spending my family vacation here—two adults and two children. The apartments, not rooms, seem small for four people and are barely equipped if you want to cook in them. The bathroom is very uncomfortable; the shower water leaks out because it only has half a screen, leaving everything soaked. The restaurant is quite small for a large family hotel, which means there are often huge queues to get in. The food is very limited and scarce compared to other similar hotels, and it's not very good quality. If you're given the seventh floor, I recommend changing it because the floors above are the penthouses with a pool, and it gets very chaotic with the people occupying those apartments. If possible, request the first or second floor to avoid waiting forever for the elevators, which, by the way, are also very small and don't work very well. Overall, I don't recommend this hotel for a family vacation because I find it very uncomfortable in every way. On the plus side, it's right on the beach and the pool (even though it's communal and two blocks away) is fun for both kids and adults because of the slides. However, I was quite disappointed because the hotel wasn't worth the price we paid.

The room was fine. Nice views, but the air conditioning was incredibly noisy and the refrigerator didn't work. The hotel buffet was absolutely awful. Some of the worst, driest, reheated, and poorly cooked food I've ever had the misfortune to eat. The hotel pools... I absolutely do not recommend them! My young daughter, who only went to the small pool, has her feet and legs wrecked from the sandpaper-like, granular surface that opened up wounds and cuts on her feet. She couldn't even walk because of the pain. Her swimsuit was completely ripped. Luckily, she was wearing a one-piece and not a bikini, otherwise her stomach would have been cut too. Oh, and I locked the door, especially because the cleaning staff tried to enter the room in the morning without knocking first... Of course, we're not going back. It was a disaster! We paid for nothing.

We stayed there about ten years ago. The overall experience and the staff's service were perfectly fine, but nothing more. Despite staying in Peñiscola for another five or six years, we haven't returned to this hotel.
