Medplaya Hotel Pez Espada in Torremolinos

I told the waitresses that there was not a lot of vegetarian or vegan foods available and the labelling was poor. The head waitress spoke to the chef and he has been preparing me vegan meals and has even given me soy yoghurt for dessert. Thank you so much to the chef for catering to all dietary needs and for preparing very yummy vegan foods. Excellent service!!!!!

Just returned home after spending 4 nights at this hotel, have stayed in 3 other hotels in Torrimolinos other years and have to rate this one my favourite. Staff friendly, very clean the room was spotless, was half board food tasty great choice usually eat out when away at least one night but decided not to as food had been so good. It was my birthday whilst there and the hotel left treats for me to enjoy in the room which was such a lovely touch from them. Great location on beach front 10 mins walk to the harbour to my favourite cafe to feed the fish and then 10 mins in the opposite direction to the lovely area of la carihuela.

Stayed at this hotel for a week in February We requested a higher room as we had paid for a sea view. We were initially given a disabled room which to be fair is good for those who have disabilities but it’s not what we requested. The shower had cords and the toilet had cords to pull for assistance! Felt it wasn’t safe! Not happy with this room at all. The poor girl on reception sorted a different room for us and to be fair it shouldn’t have been left to her to sort this out. We waited for some time to be reallocated to another room which was much better The hotel itself is beautiful but while we were there there was a lot of building work going on and the pool wasn’t open on our first few days. I am aware building work needs to be done to constantly improve the hotel but feel it shouldn’t be ongoing whilst guests are still staying there. We had breakfast only and I was impressed with what was on offer If you wanted an English breakfast for example eggs bacon sausage then this wasn’t for you but the lady who made the omelettes did a fantastic job. Loved my cheese omelettes. The pastries were also really nice and the fresh fruit was lovely Coffee machine for all your different coffees and the juice counter had a great variety Would definitely stay at this hotel again once all building work is completed

Arrived at the hotel late evening after booking a side sea and pool view room. We had requested higher floor, only to be given room 117 which was a disabled room , smelt of sewage and had limited views other than a green roof and work that was going on at hotel that no one had mentioned. The work was around the pool area and opposite building. We were told there were no rooms left but miraculously 1 hour later we were moved to room 220, again with a drainage type of smell and very warm and musky. There is also no air conditioning control room to room and is not even switched on until we believe April. Not a good first night. We decided to stay in the room as we were here to relax and eventually the smell disappeared. Staff were pleasant breakfast good and also entertainment. Very retro feel to all communal areas and cleaned every day. Nicely positioned and around a 10 minute walk to Benalmádena. Just our first day spoiled the 5 star review and although work going on it wasn’t really noisy and you have to do it sometime.

first time to this hotel and wow stayed in a junior suite with views to die for,room cleaned daily and fittings to a good standard,hotel staff are friendly and helpful,location is good and a walk to the cariheula or the marina are about 5 mins, a taxi into Torremolinos is about 6 euros,there was a good selection of food for the half board basis .i would recommend this hotel and the transfer time by coach is about 20 mins so do not bother with a private transfer drinks in the bar are on a par for the area ,a lot of hotels and bars usually have work done this time of year but did not put us off staying in the area of costa del sol

Just back from a 4 night break at the Hotel Pez Espada and what a lovely relaxing stay! The hotel is spotlessly clean, all public areas were immaculate. The hotel staff are very friendly and efficient, the food is varied and of very good quality, the drinks are fairly priced too. Our room on the 5th floor had a lovely side sea view, yes there was work being carried out in the pool and garden area, but it was not intrusive or noisy and in no way affected our holiday. Jet2 had contacted us prior to our holiday to advise of the works and offerred an alternative hotel should we prefer and we are so glad we didn't! Our room was light and spacious, lovely bathroom with easy access shower and good quality shampoo and shower gel. This was a short break to celebrate my husband's birthday & he was surprised with a bottle of cava, cake and lovely birthday message from the hotel. Will definitely return, and would recommend to anyone wanting a lovely friendly hotel on the seafront in an ideal position for both Toremolinos and Benalmadena.

For many years I have wanted to stay at the Pez Espada and this year I fulfilled my wish. The Pez Espada is located on the main promenade between Torremolinos and Benalmadena and both can be reached easily. My room was located on the 4th floor and had a small balcony that overlooked a car park. However you could see the sea and was really quite quiet. It may have been nosier at the height of summer but I was not disturbed. The room had a kettle with tea and coffee supplies which were replenished every day. There was a small fridge with 2 complimentary bottles of water. There was also a small safe. There was no additional charge for any of these. WI-FI is available throughout the hotel. My room had 2 large comfortable beds, a wardrobe with plenty of space, bedside cabinets with drawers and a desk with a chair. There was also a TV with a selection of English channels, telephone and air conditioning. The bathroom was accessed via a sliding door and contained a shower but no bathtub. There was plenty of hot water. My only issue with the room was it was located at the end of the corridor so there was no window. The only natural light came through the small balcony door so the room was a little bit dark. I had the half board option and to be honest I think I would have been better off going for bed and breakfast only. The dining room is accessed down a sweeping staircase or a small lift. You choose your own seat and are not restricted to the same table. The breakfast is brilliant! There was literally everything you could imagine for breakfast...hot food, cereals, yoghurts, pancakes, pastries, cold meats and cheeses. Hot drinks are available via machines and fruit juices are also available. Personally I am a bit of a fussy eater so I was a bit disappointed with the evening meals. There was vegetarian options, salad bar, fish, meats and, thankfully for me, pasta. Everything I had was certainly tasty and was always hot. Desserts are fantastic! If you want a drink with your meal these are available...you pay for them immediately at the table. The Pez Espada also has snack bars. One is by the pool and the other is on the terrace with lovely views. Both of these are very reasonably priced. For sun worshippers there are gardens front and back with plenty of beds. The grounds are home to the pools. The main pool is between the two main buildings of the hotel and there is a children's pool which is reached by going up a few steps. The hotel also has a gym. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. I had a small issue with my electrics and it was sorted immediately...I was very impressed. It is certainly obvious why the Pez Espada was a favourite of royalty and the rich and famous...it is absolutely fantastic. Comfortable, clean and ideally placed. I hope this will be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Perfect location beach restaurant opposite the hotel had great food service location at a good price with excellent seafood! The hotel was excellent it suited our needs 3 friends we had the beach front junior suite which accommodated us well with fabulous views across the seafront! The hotel restaurant was busy at times serving good with plenty of choice you wouldn’t go hungry! We had a great time and will visit again! We also had access to Gold lounge offering tea coffee soft drinks and snacks which included

We had an excellent experience thanks to the wonderful service of Ladia. She always took great care of us, was extremely kind, and served us with a smile. She goes out of her way to help and makes us feel truly welcome every time. One of the reasons we love visiting the hotel restaurant is because of her outstanding service. Ladia is one of the kindest staff members we have ever met and truly deserves all the appreciation. In addition, the food is always delicious, and I especially love my favorite cappuccino.
