Reviews
Praktik Essens Boutique Hotel is perfectly located just a short walk from Plaça de Catalunya, making it an ideal base for exploring Barcelona. The hotel has a very cosy and comfortable atmosphere, and the rooms are clean and thoughtfully designed. It really feels like a calm retreat in the middle of the city. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist whenever you need anything. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a charming boutique hotel in a central location.
The reception staff is very kind, the atmosphere is amazing, with the nice smells at the reception area and the lounge with free water, coffee and tea. A nice terrace also is linked to the lounge.
Rooms are modern and clean. There is a safe and a small minibar with a coffee machine. Though vanity and hygienic products are missing, the shampoo shower gel and conditioner smells are so refreshing. Towels are provided daily , and you get also bathrobe and sleepers. Our triple room has a private terrace with a seating area and an exterior shower and bathtub, so stylish!
I highly recommend this hotel and would come back with a great pleasure!
The food court right next door is amazing, and the 7–8 pm happy hour is a great bonus. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I truly enjoyed every part of my stay!
Additionally, the water pressure of the shower is also very satisfying. Nothing feels better than a good hot shower after a long day of activities. They also have body lotion for you in the room which is not that common with other hotels I’ve stayed with. They definitely should get points for this! :)
1. Very low cost performance: 300 euros, less than three-star level. The front desk is as small as a county guesthouse, and the room facilities are old, giving people a cheap feeling.
2. Zero service: I stayed for five days (as for why it was five days, I will talk about it later), and I would pass by the front desk (on the first floor) every day when I went in and out. The front desk didn't even want to raise its eyelids, let alone say hello, and was particularly cold to Asian faces; every day when I went back, the bed was made, and your clothes were thrown on the chair casually. One day I found that my face towels suddenly became much less, inexplicably.
3. Very noisy: The location is good, next to a main road, but the room type we were given may be the worst, on the second floor, right on the street, and there are two restaurants downstairs. Usually after 12 o'clock in the evening, and even until 2 o'clock in the morning on weekends, there are people drinking and chatting, and the rest is not good.
4. Old facilities: There is no toothpaste or slippers, which is expected; no matter how careful you are in the shower, a puddle of water will flow into the bathroom, and my slippers got wet on the first day; what is even more unbearable is that there are nails on the hanger (Figure 1), which pricked my hand. The space between the bed and the desk is very narrow, and the desk is a low-quality iron frame. What's worse is that the corners are not covered (Figure 2), which scratched me twice. It's really a pit everywhere.
5. No integrity: The last point I want to complain about is this reservation. I booked a 5-day stay in advance and it can be cancelled. When the cancellation date is approaching, I want to change it to 4 days. The Ctrip app can operate it. As a result, I waited for more than ten hours and replied that the hotel said that the system could not be operated. I had to accept staying in this hotel for 5 days, but when I checked in on the first day, the front desk actually asked me if I was staying for 4 days? Doesn't this mean that it is not a system problem at all? This kind of ethics is really shocking.
In short, I will go to Barcelona again, and this hotel will be blacklisted.
