Reviews
I loved the multilingual and extremely friendly staff, and the cleanliness was top-notch. Our room was bright, clean, and functional, though I'd agree the decor is pretty basic. Just note that some rooms, especially the standard doubles, can be a little small with tiny bathrooms. They offer a paid buffet breakfast and free Wi-Fi, but keep in mind that it lacks a full restaurant or fitness center.
Overall, I highly recommend the Acta Antibes, especially if you prioritize a great, quiet location, helpful service, and cleanliness over extensive amenities or luxurious decor. It was a reliable choice for me to explore Barcelona on a moderate budget.
On the day of our checkout, we left a couple of takeaway food containers tidily packed in clean, tied bags—nothing messy, nothing out of place. We assumed this would be a routine part of housekeeping, as it has been in every other hotel we've visited. However, as we were leaving the room, a cleaning staff member confronted us aggressively. She began shouting at us in Spanish, despite our efforts to remain calm and respectful. She then followed us all the way down to the reception area, continuing to glare angrily and mutter under her breath.
This behavior was deeply distressing and made us feel completely unsafe. We were simply trying to check out and go about our day, but instead we were met with hostility and intimidation. We sincerely hope we did not offend the staff member in any way, but if leaving clean, tied bags in a room is considered unacceptable here, that should be clearly communicated to guests in advance.
Ultimately, this incident cast a shadow over our stay and left us shaken. We hope the hotel management takes this seriously and ensures that future guests are treated with respect and professionalism. No one should feel harassed or unsafe in a place meant for rest and hospitality.
Checking in and out was a breeze and they even looked after our luggage for the day/until our flight after checking out which was a nice touch.
The room is serviceable. There is no kettle or fridge so don't expect to be having a morning coffee and make sure you buy bottled drinks for your room or you'll need to rely on the vending machine in reception. There were plug sockets next to the bed which is always a plus but on one side they were quite far away and you couldn't use your phone whilst plugged in.
The bathroom was fine, shower pressure was good and the supplied shampoo and shower gel were nice.
There is a safe in the wardrobe in the room which we didn't use.
There is also an option for breakfast on the second floor which again we chose not to take as we wanted to sample the local cafes etc. with all the fantastic fresh pastries in the area.
I would say it's a really good place to stay if you're looking for somewhere just to sleep. We really missed having a pool as there was a heatwave when we visited but we weren't to know that prior to departure for our holiday.
