Dream Bocayna Village in Playa Blanca

We stayed in bungalow 13 from March 21/03/26 for a week. On arrival we were greeted in reception by two lovely ladies who were so friendly and helpful. They gave us a map and explained where everything was on the complex and around the island. We were informed about car and bicycle hire in the area, where to catch the bus and was told if we needed a taxi they would be happy to arrange it for us. The bungalow was clean and comfortable, we noticed loose door handles on the doors, however I assume this is something that maintenance is already aware of. It would have been nice to have had a kettle, (if there was one, we didn’t find it) We bought tea and coffee from the shop only to find there was no kettle. We ended up boiling water in a saucepan. The hot tub was maintained once during our week stay, and sheets were changed once. We were given fresh towels every two days. We didn’t use the pool area as the weather wasn’t too good, but there was a lifeguard on duty and it was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was standard, as you would find in most European hotels. Evening meal was very nice, having a choice of options that were cooked and bought to the table made a nice change. However there was not much choice for dessert. It would have been nice to have a little more to choose from for lunch, but what we did have was tasty. We wanted a nice quiet getaway and that is exactly what we had. The staff are extremely friendly and work hard. Every staff member we came into contact with was lovely. Just a special mention for the barman Arturo who was just so friendly and professional and obviously takes great pride in his work. He makes the most wonderful Irish coffee. Also Fairuk who was always smiling and so friendly. They both made our stay a good one. It was very cold in the evenings, it would have been nice to sit outside for longer, and we would have done had there had been some outdoor heating.

Stayed at the complex 12th to 19th March, after reading reviews before hand which were all positive feedback, I expected more. My own personal view is that it is not a 4* Hotel but an average 3* Upon checking in, we felt it was not very welcoming by the receptionist on hand The next day I went back to the same receptionist to report 2 loose handles in the bungalow and asked for assistance in connecting to the hotel internet, she did not show any interest and just carried on typing. The bungalow was average with 2 loose door handles on arrival, which I reported and did get fixed, but these should have been repaired before we arrived The bungalow itself was dated and needed upgrading. My wife and I was on an all inclusive basis as was disappointed with the quality of meals The breakfast was adequate, but cooked breakfast luke warm. The lunch was more like a pub meal with little choice and very basic with a tub of ice cream for desert The evening meals were generally of a good standard but we felt rushed when asked for our choice of meal Deserts were poor with little choice. When attending breakfast one morning, found food from previous evening on floor Pool area and gardens were pleasant and clean. Staff were generally friendly. All in all a disappointing experience for my wife's 70th, although the staff did make an effort and make a birthday cake and present it my wife when seated for the evening meal. I hope this feedback helps and hopefully improvements made for future guests
