A One Calm Palace in Mirissa

Pros: The location is on a quiet road with great access for the beach and main road, where there are plenty of cafes, bars, and restaurants. The room was clean on arrival. The staff were friendly and accommodating, helping to arrange snorkeling and allowing a later check out time.

Cons:
- My room had a mosquito infestation when I arrived. I kept finding them all over the flat, even under the bed pillows. I had to kill more than 50 of them which took a whole evening.
- There was a power cut in the night (just for our building) and it took 3 hours to resolve with no explanation from staff over whatsapp when I asked for updates. I couldn’t sleep until 2am because it was so hot without the A/C.
- I mentioned these issues to the hotel manager and she implied I was lying about the mosquitos and blamed it on me for leaving the door open (which is false). I asked for compensation for that one night only when checking out but they made us pay the full price.
- They made us pay fully in cash at check out ($760) but my bank wouldn’t allow that much to be taken from the ATM. We ended up having to pay half by card with a 3% fee added. They said they told us about this when checking in, but they in fact did not.

Overall a nice place with kind staff but there are better value places in Mirissa.

Too small bed, uncomfortable pillows, breakfasts are specific, too spicy, seems not clean enough, a lot of flies during breakfast.
Lack of assistance from hotel.
Pool is nice and clean, hotel located 5 minutes from beautiful beach and infrastructure.
