Sholay Villa in Galle

We stayed two nights at Sholay Villa and overall had a pleasant experience. The villa is in a great location—very close to the town, fort, and beaches. The team, led by Gajan, was friendly and helpful, which added a warm touch to our stay. Positives - Spacious rooms with good air conditioning. - Convenient location near key attractions. - Friendly staff, with Gajan going the extra mile to assist us, including arranging a BBQ. Areas for Improvement - Room readiness: Our rooms were only available by 4 pm. For back-to-back bookings or late check-outs, it would be helpful to release at least one room earlier or provide a changing room. - Cleanliness: The pool and entrance could be maintained better. Tea cups from the morning were left uncleared until the next day. While the pool is cleaned daily, deeper cleaning is needed as tiles and lights are broken. - Facilities: Outdoor activities were charged, table tennis was unavailable, and the pool table was poorly maintained (broken sticks, no chalk, and only one usable cue). If facilities are charged, they should be in excellent condition. - Staff training & presentation: Staff uniforms would add professionalism, and training in BBQ preparation would avoid issues like food being burned. - Room maintenance: Fans made creaky noises, TVs were complicated to operate, and bathroom door handles were broken. Minor repairs and attention to detail would greatly enhance the guest experience. - Amenities: Small touches such as bottled water, kettles, and bathroom amenities would elevate the stay. Overall Sholay Villa has great potential thanks to its location and the friendliness of its team. With improvements in cleanliness, facility maintenance, and attention to detail, it could become a truly standout property in Galle. The people element is strong—now it just needs polish to match the professionalism expected by travelers.
