Apa Villa Thalpe in Unawatuna

The Apa Villa Hotel is nicely situated between the beach and the main coastal road. Fortunately, the sound of the ocean outweighs the traffic noise. Although it rained for most of our two day February stay, we enjoyed the spacious room with an adjoining bathroom and the very large, relaxing verandah - perfect for contemplating the water. The staff were attentive, and the grounds and rooms are well maintained and clean. While the ocean isn’t safe for swimming, walking along the beach is pleasant, and the beautiful freshwater pool was a real highlight. Our only caveat, which isn’t the hotel’s fault, is that there are no sidewalks along the main road, so walking outside can feel stressful with passing traffic. Overall, we appreciated the comfort, view, and service, and would recommend the hotel to those looking for a coastal stay.

An amazing, peaceful relaxation oasis with exceptional staff and manager. Food excellent, staff excellent, wildlife amazing in the reasonable small outdoor space. Eating on your verandah rather than a restaurant/dining room a real treat. Within easy reach of Galle and other towns.

Excellent friendly hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for 1 night as a couple with 3 friends. Hotel staff were welcoming. Rooms spacious, well equipped and clean. Pool towels ready in the room. Pool lovely and clean. Grounds well looked after and clean. Staff arrange for 4 of us to have a massage early before we left. Breakfast was wonderful good choice and large helpings. Had 4 Sri Lankan breakfast and 1 continental. Would highly recommend.

If you want a tiny bit of paradise this is it. The rooms were amazing, biggest rooms of our entire tour with a large living area, outside space, huge bedroom with not only ceiling fans but Aircon, mosquito nets and a fantastic bathroom. The only downside is the beach isn't large and you can't really swim in the sea but the pool is amazing. The staff were attentive and couldn't do more. You order everything via a buzzer system and they bring it directly to you room. The food was amazing and was nice to feel like you were being waited on hand and foot.

Beautifully located on the beach. A private ideal spot to relax and enjoy the ocean views, 25 metre pool and gardens. Outside the entrance walls you have the busy thorough fare where a tuk tuk taxi can drop you to numerous surf beaches, eateries and historic Galle Fort, within a short drive away. The rooms are very spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. Definitely a place we will return too in Sri Lanka!

Rooms were so spacious & the service was excellent. Anyone can enjoy both beach & the pool. We stayed for one night half board & the meals were excellent as well. The staff was so helpful with some guidance to nearby attractions. Overall it was a great experience.

Little nice boutique hotel directly on the beach set in a wonderful garden with pool. We had super big suite with Patio and personal butler. Personnel was nice and careful, we had great breakfast and a very good dinner. Overall experience was really good, the pool is great and the beach beautiful, just be aware that it is not possible to swim because of the stream and dangerous fish.

A beautiful Unawatuna beach can be reached in less than 10 minutes from the hotel.The staff is all very friendly, and I would like to express my gratitude to Prabath, Suresh, Security, and all hotel staff. The lemongrass soup has exceeded our expectations. Shane and Agnes

Villa was very nice and relaxing. I visited with my family and the place was family friendly. Food was tasty too. Manager Suresh was very helpful and friendly. Rest of the staff was also very nice and pleasant. Overall had a good experience and would recommend to anyone.
