We booked one night at this hotel and extended our stay to 3 days (would have liked to stay longer but unfortunately time is limited). We stayed in a room facing the sea in the 3rd story being greeted by a bunch of monkeys in the palm trees every morning! The whole hotel is full of green plants and huge windows which gives you a great jungle feeling. The train is very close and honks when passing - but this is Sri Lankan life and that’s what we are here for! The staff is very friendly, too, and the small pool ideal for a cool dip!
You can reach the famous turtle beach in 5 minutes walking passing a small shop with lovely ladies (for water, mangos and king coco). If you enter through a restaurant and have a cool beer you don’t have to struggle with an entrance fee. The beach is very crowded - everybody wanting to feed the turtles… We loved the beaches to the right or left much more: beautiful and empty!
Unawatuna can be reached with a 400 LkR TukTuk ride!

I had the best experience at this hotel, it’s absolutely remarkable from the people working there to the views and pool, I would 100% recommend this hotel it’s clean, friendly and should be listed as 5 star. Of all of the hotels we stayed in this was by far our favourite, the staff were lovely and even gave us a traditional welcome ceremony and drink on arrival and we got to see monkeys from the balcony of the room. Outstanding hotel cannot recommend enough!

Tharanga is a very good host, lovely hotel with amazing views. Would recommend coming. Amazing pool and bedroom, I love this place!

Unfortunately the location is literally next to the train tracks which means a loud train passes by throughout the day. Also, the hotel was not great with communication. I informed the hotel we would be arriving after 5pm, yet when we arrived there was nobody at the front desk to greet us or help us. We did however, notice many mosquitoes everywhere inside the hotel. There was no room service and after a few days of going and coming from the beach, the floors can get sandy. We asked for someone to please come and at least sweep and take our trash. They said someone would come, but when we arrived close to 7pm our room had not been cleaned. On top of that, the shower stopped working as soon as it was turned on. So I had to wait half wet and tired until they fixed it.
That being said, the staff was very friendly, and management did try to help, although they forgot to tell their staff to clean our room.
The best part was probably being able to see monkey right outside our window and easy walk to the beach where you can enjoy the turtles.

Spent a day out at Seaclouds Unawatuna and it was a pretty chill experience. The pool was nice clean and perfect for a relaxing swim. The food was also alright, nothing mind-blowing but definitely decent for a day spot. Overall, a good place to unwind if you're looking for a peaceful vibe and some downtime with friends.

Very friendly and helpful staff, nice little swimming pool and reasonably priced. The owner also prepared a small traditional welcoming ceremony when we arrived, which was really nice. Besides that, it was also very clean, the rooms are modern and cozy and the views are nice!

We had a lovely stay in Sea Cloud Hotel. The manager was very helpful, gave us a very nice welcome and explained lots of things.
Bonus for staying in the hotel was that it was about 4 mins walk from a really nice beach. The beach is protected from the waves because of a reef about 50m out from the shore. This means that the sea is like a lagoon and wild turtles come in every day to feed. What a great experience to swim with these turtles!
The only reason we gave 4 stars for location was because of the train track adjacent to hotel. In the morning there was a few loud trains passing.

Excellent facilities, super clean, high spec bathroom, comfy bed, and comfy lounging areas on each floor. They gave us a welcome drink on arrival, how nice.

Lovely owner and really helpful staff. Top notch place. We had a great sleep there.

Also they have a generator for the evening in case of power cuts. Would highly recommend.

Fresh and brand new accommodation in Unawatuna. Everything was just perfect with clean rooms to good views on the top floor. Just a small walk away from one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka.
Kudos to the host, Mr.Lasitha, he is just lovely, very humble, reasonable and considerate.
We were privileged to be the first booking with a family if 25pax.
