Leisure Land Villas in Galle

We stayed at Leisure Land for one night recently and wanted to share our experience. We booked a family room and arrived at around 2:45 PM. Most other villas we’ve visited have a check-in time around 12:30 or 1:00 PM, so the 3:00 PM check-in here felt a bit late. Upon entering the car park area, we were unsure where to go next as there were no signs or directions to the villa. I tried calling the hotline several times but received no answer. The entrance didn’t look like a welcoming villa—more like a construction site. After about 15 minutes, we finally found the reception hall, which appeared to be in an old house. Staff support there was minimal, so I had to walk further until I met two ladies in the restaurant area. I was asked to fill out some forms while sitting at a desk among guests who were having lunch, in a space filled with food smells—not an ideal welcome. Surprisingly, we were told the room was still not ready. They suggested we use the pool until it was prepared, but we declined as the main pool was overcrowded with day-out groups. My children used the small pool near the villa instead, and after about another 20 minutes, the room was finally ready. The family room itself was spacious, cosy, and the bathroom was clean. The two large swimming pools became pleasantly uncrowded after 5:00 PM, though the water slides and some activities did not seem very safe for children. Unfortunately, the night was quite unpleasant. A group of men staying in the room above ours made loud noise until midnight, despite villa guidelines stating that silence should be maintained after 10:00 PM. No staff intervened, even though other guests, including some foreign visitors next to our room, also came out to check what was going on. Breakfast was supposed to be ready by 9:00 AM, but when we arrived at the restaurant at 9:30 AM, nothing was prepared. When I inquired, the young lady working there gave me an unfriendly look and seemed more focused on serving the day-out groups than overnight guests, so we returned to our room. When breakfast was finally served, it was unfortunately not tasty at all. The only staff member who was genuinely helpful during our stay was a short, middle-aged man. Unfortunately, aside from him, we didn’t experience much hospitality from the rest of the team. I’m writing this review in the hope that the management will take these points as constructive feedback to improve their service and guest experience. Under the current conditions, I would not recommend Leisure Land for an overnight stay.

We originally booked for 2 nights however reduced to 1 night. There is no mention of construction in the description, as soon as you walk in you are greeted by a big construction site. There's banging and drilling throughout the day until 6pm . It ruined the peaceful nature sounds. The slides are very dangerous and not appropriate for kids or even adults. And I'm surprised something like this is allowed to operate. Zero health and safety. They give you headgear however I still don't think it's enough for the solid concrete slides. There were no chairs to sit on around the pool and during the day the pool is overcrowded with locals using a day pass. Our room was infested with COCKROACHES and spider webs. I woke up in the middle of the night, turned the light on and was greeted by 5 cockroaches. I get we are in the middle of a jungle however this place was just unhygienic. The bathroom stank. The sheets smelled old and musty.. There was no phone in the room and no staff on site during the night. There was a kettle and cups however there was no tea or coffee provided. They have 1 restaurant on site however you can't sit there as its opposite the loud construction site. We got breakfast included however it was terrible quality, and given the state of the rooms I was scared to even eat their food. Very disappointed with our stay. This place needs to be assessed by authorities for health and safety and shut down for pest control
