This place has very little to offer for the price. Even the triple rooms are quite small, and the bathrooms have very limited space to move comfortably. The swimming pool is tiny, and the buffet was limited with only a few food options available.
We had high expectations because it’s under the Thema Collection, but it honestly felt more like a converted old guest house than a proper hotel.
One of the restaurant staff members was rude, which unfortunately left a bitter impression and affected our overall experience.
Overall, it’s not worth the price we paid.

We had a really lovely stay here. The hotel was clean and well maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly and genuinely caring throughout our stay. Breakfast and dinner were amazing, full of flavour and beautifully prepared. The pool area was also very clean and relaxing.
There were a few minor signs of wear and tear, and the bathroom had a slight musty smell, but nothing off putting or enough to affect our stay. Overall, a wonderful experience and definitely worth recommending!

We enjoyed our time here. The breakfast was nice just a shame they didn't do the traditional pancakes and hoppers. The fly situation isn't great but you are facing a rice field and jungle. They do need to address this with some sort of candles or citronella stuff. Service was great and staff friendly. Clean room lovely views and lots of birds and water buffalo to watch. Great pool also.

Good afternoon, the experience at the hotel has been, overall, unpleasant. To begin with, we arrived at 1:30 PM and the room was still not ready. We went on a safari and when we got back to the hotel, it was unbearable due to the number of insects in the environment. It was outrageous. The WiFi connection was intermittent (this has happened to us in several hotels). The variety of food at the buffet was scarce. And we had a very unpleasant dinner with insects bothering us the entire time. We had to leave the dinner halfway through.
Not everything was bad. The room was quite nice, and the pool and views were great. But they don't compensate at all for the insect issue.

Our stay at Kithala Resort in Kataragama was truly a highlight of our trip to Kataragama and Yala! 🤩
From the moment we arrived until we left, the staff provided exceptional service and made us feel so welcome. We were particularly impressed by how they went above and beyond to help us resolve a booking issue we had with the Agoda app. They handled it with incredible professionalism and efficiency, ensuring our check-in was smooth and stress-free.
Beyond the excellent service, we absolutely loved the resort itself. The food was delicious and the overall service was brilliant. The swimming pool was a perfect spot to relax, and the natural, beautiful environment of the resort made our stay feel like a peaceful escape. We can't recommend Kithala Resort enough! ❤️

Nice hotel in the city center. The staff is friendly and helped organize a beautiful birthday photo area.
