Owl and the Pussycat Hotel & Restaurant in Unawatuna

I stayed here for four days in January and could not fault it. The food was lovely, and the staff couldn’t do enough for me. They chatted to me as if they’d known me for years and were always smiling and friendly. My room was also amazing! I was given a free upgrade much to my surprise, and the room was clean, spacious and the decor lovely. The bed was very comfy and so high I had a box to step up on to it. The only bad thing was that I couldn’t stay longer!

A very nice hotel with a great design.

The hotel is amazing! The room is big and tidy, the air conditioner is strong and the beds are very comfortable. Without prior requests, to our surprise, one more bed is arranged for the 3 of us. The manager is super helpful and friendly, he recommended us a lot of nearby attractions. The location is fangastic. It was such a such a nice stay and I will definitely recommend this hotel!

Beautiful grounds, very attentive staff, ready to help and accommodate. However, the furniture in the rooms is tired and the cleaning in the common areas is lacking. Otherwise, it's a great hotel.

Super nice Hotel. Amazing friendly and helpful staff. Amazing location and view. I can recommend this place to anyone traveling to the south of Sri Lanka

This was my second time at The Owl and the Pussycat and it was even better this year than last. The standard of accommodation, the food and drinks were all we could have wanted. The staff were very friendly and helpful at oll times. And the hotel's eccentric decor works brilliantly.. The location is wonderful because you can see only palm trees, the ocean and small headlands in either direction. The horror of what once -beautiful but now ruined Unawatana isn't visible from.the hotel.

This is the absolute best place to stay!! From arrival we were greeted so warmly by the staff (special mention to Mr Nihal). It was like a homecoming. The room was beyond our expectations - and we were treated to an upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite. The suits was perfect as I was travelling with my two daughters (both aged 7 years old) and we could have our dinner in the suite and chill on the patio in the evenings. It felt like staying in a home and was so comfortable for all three of us. Waking up and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean is something that we will not forget! The food at the restaurant was amazing. So delicious that I had to ask the chef for one of the recipes! The rooms were clean and modern, plus the turn-down service in the evening was a great bonus. The location is also perfect because you are situated beachfront and also only 20 minutes away from Galle if you want to explore that area. The staff arranged local transport to Galle for us (shout out to our tuktuk driver Mr Nalin). To be honest we did not want to leave and hope we can return again in the furture.

It'll do for a couple of nights.

Oh... I absolutely fell in love with this hotel!!! I'm not attaching photos because they're real in the hotel profile. This is it! We stayed in a 4-bedroom suite on the 3rd floor, and it truly is the best hotel in Sri Lanka. It's very atmospheric and well-thought-out; every detail is a delight. Service: we were checked in early and quickly, the room was cleaned twice a day!!!!! The pool is clean, the food in the restaurant is delicious, but pricey.
Yes, the ocean here is rough, but if you're driving or riding a bike, it's 10 or 20 minutes in either direction and you can reach Unawatuna, Weligma, or Mirissa (a tuk-tuk will also take you).
Restaurants are also within walking distance.
This is my second time in Sri Lanka and I have something to compare it to, so I highly recommend it. The hotel is worth the money; it's not your average chain hotel or a run-down local. We'll definitely be back here.
Oh, and the third floor has a fantastic patio with sun loungers, it's absolutely huge. This bonus is absolutely amazing.
