The Shambhala Khaolak Resort (SHA Extra Plus) in Khao Lak

Quaint 3 star BEACH FRONT resort off the main road, very reasonable rates.  The staff are exceptional, particularly Hong, Ao, Yeerarf and Pua.They will do anything needed to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are spacious and SUPER clean.  The AC works very well.  The safe is actually connected to a wall.  There is a small fridge in the room and coffee supplies. GREAT breakfast included. The infinity pool is a very comfortable temperature.Lots of lounge chairs, tables and umbrellas.   To access the beach you walk to the end of the property (literally about 300 meters) and down some stairs.  The beach and ocean is all sand bottom, easy to walk and refreshing! The resort provides very REASONABLE driving service to wherever you want to go in a nice AC SUV. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this resort!

Hong Was amazingly accommodating to the point where I had left my passport at the Phuket airport. She arrange for a car to get it and reassured me everything will be OK. She is a one woman army and takes care of that place so well. If I can give 10 stars for customer service I would. The place itself is clean, cute, and I feel a bit more authentic than some of the other places around.

Initially I was underwhelmed by Shambala - over all it was a little bit dated and not as polished as some photos may suggest …. BUT … after spending a couple of days there I appreciated: Great location - over looking sea with steps to a little bay. Huge quiet beach 1 min walk away. A handful of reservations within 5 mins or 20 min walk to the small tourist strip with bars etc. Transfer takes about 60 mins on main roads mostly. Staff - thank you for looking after us. A lovely team that are always around to help. Rooms - big rooms that get cleaned every day. A little bit dated - but I would now say retro! Everything works, big modern TV, air con, big comfy bed, fridge, kettle, good water pressure in shower. Nice little terrace to escape the heat. Shared space - nice gardens surrounding bungalows, good pool - not massive but great for a dip, plenty on space to sun bathe and relax - not crammed like some modern resorts. Food - breakfast is very good, buffet and order from menu, very generous portions. Lunch and dinner are good also - eat inside or alfresco.

This boutique style family owned resort went out of their way to ensure the couple of days I spent there were stress free. Their attentiveness to ensuring I made it to my next destination and multiple phone calls placed whilst I waited because of a broken down bus were over and above the service you would probably get at a bigger resort. Glasses of water and fruit were placed in front of me, delivered with apologies for the bus company’s failures.

This is a great place with excellent location. Right on the beach, quiet but not far from the center. The resort crew were amazing and super helpful. Everything was really beautiful - rooms, pool, the beach. The owner didn’t stop to surprise us with her care.

This stay was perfect. When I arrived in Khao Lak I didn't like my hotel therefore I found the Shambhala Resort and I was directly in Love with the location. The Pool and the Rooms are perfect. It is the perfect place for all Instagram photos. You get a large Room with a nice Bathroom. All you need is there. The Resort is like a small jungle. The Pool is soooooooo nice. Breakfast was also simple but delicious. The best is the lovely couple that hosts the Resort. I felt like family and they helped me with everything I needed and gave me tips. I would go again, for sure.

The most welcoming and helpfull owners and staff. We visited twice this place, just because the owners were so nice to us. The rooms are always cleaned during the stay and soaps and coffee where filled up everyday. The pool is very clean and beautiful to swim with a view. For us this was the most comfortable place during our trip in thailand. Thanks

Small setting of greenery and calm, really by the sea. Magnificent 180 degree view, lots of trees. Sufficient and pleasant swimming pool, plenty of space around it, breakfast to order and frankly varied given the size of the hotel, simple but spacious rooms, properly equipped (we had a garden bungalow), really very firm bedding (but it's a detail). Hotel 15 minutes walk from the center, pleasant walk, possibility of parking, in short, a great little quiet place, especially for couples (perhaps less suitable for families...)

We were looking for a place in Khao Lak and came over this place by chance. It really was a hidden gem! Located on a beautiful sandy beach and with front seats to the sunset in palm-paradise. Never could we have found a better place to stay in Khao Lak!! It was small and private, compared to the other bigger resorts with a lot of people along the beach (we walked a lot along the beach and couldn't find a more cozy and nice place than this). The pool and rooms where clean, the staff was totally amazing, and the view from the pool was breathtaking. If I come back to Khao Lak, I would only stay here.

Second time staying at this family run hotel!! I am glad we did. We planned to chill out here before going to Phuket and Bangkok. It really didn't disappoint. The beautiful scenery and the laid back atmosphere made us feel totally relaxed and feel like home. We loved the family who run the hotel and enjoyed our chit chat at dining tables. They are always friendly and helpful if you need anything. I highly recommend this hotel.
