Mac Resort Hotel in Chang Island

An awful experience. On the surface things seemed fine - the room was spacious and the aircon worked well. There was quite a lot of noise coming from the bar next door but I expected that from the reviews and so it didnt bother me.

The trouble started at night when a huge cockroach emerged out of nowhere. I killed it and went to the reception to ask them to remove it and spray some bug spray in the room.

Not long after that another huge cockroach emerged. I went back to the reception to ask for help but the lady working there was getting ready to go home and didnt want to know. She rudely handed me the bug spray she used earlier and proceeded to pack her bag.

I went back to the room to deal with the problem only to find a number of small cockroaches crawling in the bathroom and a couple of big cockroaches dead on the floor. By this point the reception lady was gone and there was noone to assist me. I spent the rest of the night killing bugs in a room full of toxic fumes from the bug spray I was forced to use.

The next morning I asked for a refund and moved to another resort. The receptionist was visibly displeased by my complain and only refunded me for the upcoming night. No apologies were given at any point.

It was one of the worst places Ive ever stayed in. I appreciate that bugs are common in tropical countries but this was just too much. The staff was extremely rude and unhelpful and the fact that there is noone at the reception after 10pm doesn't help.

Restaurant only Thai red curry with duck - wishy washy thin with WAY too much pineapple and just 2 small pieces of duck. Worst thai meal I have ever eaten. Service is decent, but food arrives sporadically — main, then starter then main There are better places to eat, either on the beach but would suggest on the main road and where the locals eat Avoid

Perfect location on the very beautiful beach, and the pool was really nice too. But that’s pretty much where it ends. The reception staff was very unhappy and didn’t smile during the entire stay. Same with breakfast staff. The buffet was limited to say the least, but Ok I guess, since you have all you need- except for good coffee! The rooms are old and very run down and we had no balcony. If you can live with old, dated rooms this place is ok to stay in, since location is so good. I found the grumpy staff to be the biggest problem with this hotel, and that is almost always a management problem. Take care of that, and you have an ok place!
