Reviews
Venus on Koh Phangan is the definition of a mixed bag—and unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives here.
Let's start with what works: the view is absolutely stunning. Perched overlooking the water, it's genuinely breathtaking and exactly what you'd hope for when booking an island getaway. If you're someone who can sit on a balcony and stare at the sea for hours, you'll get that here.
The problem is you'll have to stare at it from a very tired room. The accommodation is old and frankly, dying for a renovation. Everything feels dated and worn—furniture, fittings, decor—like stepping back in time but not in a charming way. It's functional at best.
The location compounds the issues. It's terrible—nothing around at all, and almost inaccessible by foot. You'll absolutely need your own transportation (scooter or taxi) just to get to a restaurant or convenience store. If you're without wheels, you're stranded.
Overall, Venus trades entirely on its view, but neglects everything else. If you prioritize scenery above all and have your own transport, maybe. Otherwise, look for somewhere that puts equal effort into the actual accommodation and location.
Could use some fresh towels, ours were very old with holes in them and the bed could use an upgrade, sweaked everytime you moved.
But the owners were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. Plus very friendly monkeys came to visit in the morning!
# shared bathroom with 2 toilet's (inkl. Shower) and one shower room
# 2 minutes walking to the Had Rin Beach
# calm area
# good breakfast at the restaurant (good price)
# very friendly staff
# you have to tell if you need room service (we stood 5 day's and have not got but we didn't ask)
# for this price it is a good room for backpacker in top location (maybe a little bit more expansive at the fool moon party time but when there is not it is calm ans cheap)

Haad Rin beach is one of the best beaches on Koh Phangan with soft white sand and crystal clear water. It’s a great place for swimming and relaxing during any season. We lived on Koh Phangan for over a month in 2020 and went to every single beach on the island- Haad Rin is our favorite, especially right now without the parties and tourists.
I highly recommend Palita Lodge for their hospitality, delicious food, and great atmosphere right on the beach.
Update Dec 2020, even during COVID this place is maintained perfectly and the owners and staff make you feel home every minute.
Update April 2021, still the best place on the island, now they even loads of vegetarian and vegan options, including the best cappuccino with almond milk!
