Marigold Hotel in Tunis

Decent price/value ratio

Let's start with a disclaimer - you very quickly learn what a 4-star hotel really means when seeing Marigold.
And with that, I mean, it is not what one would expect when hearing "4-star" hotel in Europe.
Yes, there is a 24-hour reception, and yes, it was clean, rooms were spacious, but there were some glaring 'issues'.

First and foremost, I managed to get food poisoning in Tunisia, so yes, I'm not ashamed to write that I needed extra toilet paper, which the hotel couldn't provide. I even asked at the reception for the cleaning staff to just provide 2 rolls, to which I got one. At one point, they didn't even replace the toilet paper, which was finished..
Of course, each room has a bidet, but I'm not (wasn't?) used to using it.

The other rather annoying thing was asking for extra water bottles. And it was annoying, because the answer was - sorry, can't provide it.
After a long day of work, getting home at midnight, I asked for it (having forgotten to buy), and the answer was that the bar is only open until 10 pm and there is no water bottle after.
Great.
In a country where tap water is not potable and no shops are open in the neighborhood at that time, I was not exactly happy to sleep dehydrated.

Other than that, breakfast is good/decent and the staff are friendly, so overall it wasn't a bad experience, but also nothing I would write home about.
3/5, but just because the price was reasonable.
