Très Décevant AN HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE A very poor excuse for a hotel - dirty - understaffed - unwelcoming - facilities CLOSED! Certainly not ***** Alarm bells were raised immediately on arriving - no staff at reception - the hotel looked closed. The man who turned up to assist had a terrible manner and very questionable personal hygiene. I have never had to check out immediately of a hotel, but we did, as they were unable to honour the reservation and bedroom booked - their attempts to change and make a suitable room available, were not timely enough. They agreed to refund my money - which after three months they haven’t. *********** suggests a card chargeback via my credit card. Thankfully, we were accommodated in an Ambassador Suite at the always dependable El Mouradi Africa.

The idea of turning an old Riad to a hotel is a nice one. Beautiful architecture but the beds, the bath room, the doors into the rooms, the furniture they all need upgrades. You can have the charm but not provide comfort. As nice as the ceiling or the entrance door, etc were, the door to the room was so hard to open and close. The bathroom door wouldn't lock l, the hotel lobby had an old crooked table in the middle of the room, dix these things. It's just unsettling.

Lovely ambience, great service. The only negative was the car organised for the airport transfer was not upmarket apart from the price. A disappointing end to my stay.

My parents, daughter and I stayed at the Bayrem in October 2025. An absolutely wonderful experience! The hotel is gorgeous, the food at their restaurant and breakfast terrace delicious, and the staff incredibly friendly. Special kudos to Walid and Rachma, they were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Being in the Medina parking can be an issue but if you are being dropped off it is a short 2-3 minute walk from where you are dropped off to the hotel. Hotel staff will gladly come meet you/ walk you to a car pick-up so for us parking was no issue. We LOVED our stay the hotel!

Bayram Palace is a gorgeous boutique hotel that will transport back in time with its mosaics, Moorish architecture and furniture from a period long ago. Located in the Medina, finding it among the tiny streets and passageways can be a challenge, but well worth it.

An impressive place to stay
Positives:
- The location is central, you are straight into the hustle and bustle of the Medina.
- The room I had was clean, comfortable and spacious. The decor is impressive and there is an attention to detail.
- There was wifi in the room and effective temperature control.
- Staff were helpful.
- Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. There was a good selrction. The breakfast room was light and airy and the waitress helpful.

Negatives:
- It was tricky to find initially. Due to travel delays I arrived as it was dark and trying to find my way through the labyrinthine alleyways alone when there were locked gates where I wanted to be was a little intimidating. Not the fault of the hotel, just something to be aware of.
- The design of the hotel means there is little soundproofing. There was loud music until late one night which felt as though it was playing in my room.

Overall the positive outweighed the negatives by a long way and I wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.

It's like traveling through time, with scenery everywhere. It's different from modern hotels, and it feels good to change

Not bad but considering the hotel grade, I felt there is more to improve in service, facilities.

Beautiful hotel.
Beautiful hotel and incredible room. It was a challenging time in the evening as the room faces a courtyard where there was music in the evening (during Ramadan).

Dar El Jeld is well known all over Tunisia and you can tell they set the standard for incredible decor and service. Everything at this location is beautiful. The rooms are spacious, the place itself is a fixture in the medina with its ornate yellow doors and blue windows. The staff are super helpful. The food is outstanding. And the view from the roof is gorgeous. You can get to/away via taxi which is hard for most places in the medina. One of the nicest places we have stayed anywhere.

I am profoundly perplexed by the high mark this restaurant receives. Apart from the amazing dining room in an old converted palace, everything else is decidedly ordinary. Yes they do welcome you on arrival and make you sit in the front lounge but do not have the finesse to offer you the menu to ponder over whilst waiting, let alone a small nibble to whet your appetite. Once you are sat at the table and given the menu, a miserable looking older man comes around to take your orders with not a sliver of a smile or acknowledgment. Shockingly, the menu is very limited and reminiscent of a fixed priced pre-theatre tourist menu hence you can forget indulging yourself in any kind of feasting. And if that failed to disappoint you, you can then rest assure that the food will taste no different from any other Tunisian restaurants charging half the price. This was our sixth Tunisian restaurant at this point. In fact my fish soup was so tasteless and so was the fish couscous, I had never been so happy to see a salt cruet. Even the wine list fails to include any non-Tunisian wines which is almost a crime for a supposedly upmarket restaurant. All in all, this is a very bog standard Tunisian restaurant that happened to be in a nice room. More hype than substance. You will not eat any better here just because they have pretty mosaics and lamps. Not recommended unless you really don’t know what to do with your money.

Very nice Environment and very kind team.

We came without reservation but they were very kind to accommodate us and found us a nice table.

The food is amazing and for the price it worth the value.

Will visit again very soon and will be pleased to come for this restaurant.

Absolutely amazing! Zero fault! Best place to stay near the Medina and top 3 places to stay in all of Tunis, period.
You must book a dinner in the downstairs restaurant. The rooftop restaurant is very nice too!
Service is top Notch!
The room, perfect!
The Spa is also very nice.
I am typically very critical of places I review but this Hotel is just an absolute Gem!

Note:

Call when you're on your way there so they can meet you on the street side and help you with your luggage if you have a lot.

Beautiful historic hotel in the Medina, immaculately renovated. Rooftop terrace is lovely on a sunny afternoon.

Highly recommend to stay. If you’re staying elsewhere in Tunis recommend the a stop at the terrace when visiting the Medina. The bartenders are quite skilled.

I particular recommend for couples.
