Reviews
September 20th-27th/2025
The plaza is a beautiful hotel, clean inside and out with gorgeous grounds and access to the sea and pool. Plenty of sun loungers both at pool, beach and ‘private beach’ areas. Golf cart style buses to transport you around the hotel in day and evening because the hotel grounds are very extensive, which was good as it never felt crowded. We stayed in the sea view double room, the room is large, bed comfortable and bathroom big plus the room was cleaned and made everyday.
Our biggest disappointment of the holiday was the service, I have stayed in over 10 all inc resorts in turkey an Europe and have never experienced service like it. At breakfast you are not offered drinks (coffee) if you ask for them you might get them depending on the waiter but out of 6 breakfast we had coffee once. At dinner in the buffet it’s hard to find a table as they are not cleared fast enough, and you only get drinks if you ask. We didn’t spend alot of time at the pool but the pool bar seemed to be the best service. At the private beach an area with about 120 sunbeds, you were given a bucket of canned drinks everyday which was great. However when asking for coffee we’re told the machine wasn’t hot, need to wait 10 more mins multiple times. You could not get a coffee before 11am and even in the afternoon it was a struggle, we found this extremely frustrating as we don’t drink cocktails coffee is our thing. We had one meal in the al a carte Jade which was a completely different experience, service 10/10 and food amazing.
However we expected all restaurants to be open in September but were told that both seafront restaurants, Catch and a prime cut were closed due to wind however when I pressed them over this I was told it’s as the season has ended. Again I holiday only in September and never had this before. This was such a disappointment as when booking this is not mentioned and we were looking forward to dinner with a sea view, it was part of the reason we booked the plaza. Menus were also swapped so jade (sushi) then served Catch’s menu. On the topic of closures, the evening entertainment was nothing like shown on the website, I also asked about this and was told it is because it’s September. So no dancing/shows just music. And as the restaurants were closed it also meant the only place to get a drink in the evening was the hotel lobby which was far from the sea view bar we expected.
Overall we had a good, restful stay and enjoyed swimming in the clean easy to access sea at the private beach. The buffet food was pretty good, and the hotel is close to Bodrum old town which was pretty. The service definitely let this 5star resort down, I’m not sure if this is as it is September or if this would have been the case last month too.
The rooms are tidy but only superficially cleaned. There was a very unpleasant sewage smell coming from the bathroom pipes, and water often remained standing in the shower. It’s also worth mentioning that the rooms lack basic entertainment options such as Netflix access – which, at the end of the season on a rainy day, could be a nice alternative to sitting in the lobby drinking cocktails.
The cleaning lady was very kind we tipped her twice just for that, but it seemed she was responsible for an entire floor on her own, which probably didn’t leave her enough time to clean more thoroughly.
Food in the main restaurant and the à la carte restaurant Zaatar was excellent. However, the service varied – some staff members were friendly and helpful, while others looked like they really didn’t want to be there.
On the positive side, towards the end of the season there were no issues finding a spot on the beach or by the pool. The beach staff also did a great job removing unattended towels, so there was no problem with guests “reserving” sunbeds early in the morning – a big plus.
Unfortunately, only 2 out of 4 à la carte restaurants were open, and the ice cream shop, snack bar, and poolside coffee place were all closed.
Reception service was disappointing – during check-out, no one even asked how our stay was. I simply handed in the room cards and got a short “goodbye.”
Beach bar drinks were inconsistent – it really depended on who was making them. Sometimes they were very good and well-balanced, other times terrible, like a mojito made with vodka, sparkling water, ice, and a few mint leaves. Ironically, I had tipped the bartender before receiving that drink – clearly a mistake. Drinks in the lobby bar were much better.
There weren’t many animations, which we actually appreciated.
Overall, for the price, this is definitely not a premium hotel – and certainly not with premium service. There are much better options available.
