Han 1772 Hotel in Istanbul

🌍
Turkey, Istanbul, Mimar Vedat Sk. 3
● Center: 470 m
🌞 Sea - 4 min

Rooms are elegant and spacious with unique high brick ceilings, creating a memorable atmosphere. Staff receive frequent praise for helpfulness and English proficiency, enhancing guest experience. The on-site restaurant Olden 1772 is noted for its stylish decor and quality food, especially appreciated during group events. The hotel’s location is highly rated for proximity to major historical landmarks and public transport. Noise from the restaurant’s music until 1 a.m. disrupts sleep, particularly on weekends, with limited soundproofing. Some rooms lack natural light and have windows opening into corridors, reducing privacy and comfort. No elevator is available, making luggage handling difficult on cobblestone streets leading to the entrance. Billing issues and unclear policies regarding extra charges for bread, water, and butter have caused guest dissatisfaction.

This is a trendy hotel associated with a popular internet-famous restaurant. Staying here means you get to see elegantly dressed Turkish women dining for free. The hotel's internal facilities are just okay, especially the lack of an elevator, which is a real pain. The linens and other amenities are decent. The ceiling, however, is very interesting.

Regarding the noise, once I closed all the windows, it was actually pretty quiet, so no major issue there. However, the view is purely a road with no scenery, which is a big drawback. Also, cars can't drive right up to the hotel entrance, and dragging luggage over the cobblestone streets is quite annoying.

The hotel's location is excellent, and its overall design is stylish with a historical feel. I heard it was converted from an old post station. Downstairs, there's a popular restaurant and bar, and I saw handsome men and beautiful women taking photos and checking in there every day during my stay.

The hotel is nicely located and very beautiful inside, including the rooms themselves.
However, the hotel hosts a restaurant called Olden 1772, which plays music until 1:00 a.m. This was particularly problematic on Friday and Saturday nights, as the music volume was extremely high and made it almost impossible for me to sleep—especially since my room was located next to the glass door leading to the stairs.
Although I always closed the glass door to reduce the noise, guests frequently came and went and left it open, as there was no sign asking them to keep it closed. After two nights, I requested a room change, but I was told the hotel was fully booked. This turned out not to be true, as I would have been able to book another room online myself. I was also informed that the hotel website contains a warning about the music noise, which I could not find—neither before my stay nor afterwards.
In addition, upon check‑in I was asked to pay in advance but did not receive an invoice. I was told I would receive it at check‑out. To be on the safe side, I sent an email regarding the invoice the day before departure. At check‑out, no invoice was prepared, and I was told it would be sent later that day via email or WhatsApp. Despite having paid three days earlier, I still have not received any invoice.
I would not recommend this five‑star hotel. While the property is attractive and the restaurant offers good food and a nice atmosphere, my overall experience as a guest—especially at this price point—did not make me feel welcome or taken seriously.
This is, of course, my personal experience and point of view—others may judge differently.

Really cool hotel with good vibes, however can be noisy and cluster phobic for some to fall asleep. They also request the guest to sign waivers of any property loss and damages,.which is uncommon and unfair. Note providing and ensuring security and safety of the residents is the responsibility of a hotel, not the other way around. Hotel staff is nice but manager takes note.

Honestly, I don't really understand why they put a hotel next to a restaurant; this place isn't designed for relaxation. First off, the rooms feel like crypts with brick domed ceilings. The windows open into the corridor, so we constantly had to keep the blinds closed because everyone walking by could see into our room. There's no natural light, so it's always gloomy. Smoking is allowed in the hallway, and right outside our door, there was a table and two chairs where couples from the restaurant would come up, chat, and smoke directly under our windows. There's zero soundproofing; music starts playing from noon until 1 AM, and when you try to sleep, there's a constant vibration and noise. The restaurant prices are ridiculously high, and I don't get why or for what. Yes, it looks impressive in the evening, but during the day, we got a closer look at the decor – the chandelier is cheap plastic, as is all the furniture in the restaurant, and the food is mediocre. All in all, I do not recommend this place.

Fantastic place. Very unique and beautiful, yet the facilities in the room was great and very comfortable. It did not feel out of place at all. They even provided a humidifier to ensure the air is not too dry. Location is also very close to public transport. Staff are very nice and polite. They speak English well!

We had the pleasure of hosting a group lunch for 48 guests at Olden 1772, and it was truly a remarkable experience from start to finish.

The restaurant itself is absolutely astonishing — a place full of charm and elegance that makes every moment feel special. The food was outstanding, beautifully prepared, and enjoyed by every single guest in our group.

From the beginning, the reservation process was smooth and easy. The team made a genuine effort to accommodate us and ensure that everything was perfect for such a large party. All the staff were exceptionally kind, attentive, and welcoming — their professionalism and warmth made a real difference.

I would highly recommend Olden 1772 not only for individual visitors but also for groups looking for an unforgettable dining experience in a truly unique setting.

Han 1772 is a truly special place — a unique blend of heritage and modern comfort. What made our stay even more memorable was the incredible hospitality from the staff Alpaslan. We arrived at 2am, tired and hungry, and he went out of his way to help us order authentic Turkish food, even though we couldn’t access the Yemeksepeti app. As first-time visitors to Istanbul, his genuine care and warmth made us feel so welcomed and at ease. Throughout our stay, Alpaslan was consistently kind, helpful, and thoughtful. A beautiful and unforgettable experience from start to finish!
