The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with a lovely view that made each morning feel special. The hotel grounds were beautifully kept, and I really appreciated the peaceful atmosphere around the pool and beach area.
The entertainment and activities added a nice touch to the evenings without being overbearing, and I truly felt like I could relax and enjoy every moment.
Overall, Michell Hotel exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, enjoyable getaway with great service and amenities. I’m already thinking about my next visit!

For a amazing holiday 🎈
However, being an international hotel we were very disappointed with the food choices. Again it was all aesthetically appealing but the food was either bland, extremely salty or pickled. We did however enjoy the fresh bread. The food was very repetitive with a choice of plain rice, meatballs, mixed roasted vegetables and of course, fries.
Being a 5 star hotel we expected a wider selection of food options that catered for all guests. We were one of three English couples ( to our knowledge) and were definitely made to feel like the odd ones out, possibly I would go as far to say as unwelcome.
The alcohol that was included in the ultra all inclusive consisted mainly of vodka or gin and they were far from top tier quality. Only a small selection of cocktails were available, which all tasted like paint stripper. Alternatively there were other options available at an additional €10!!
The WiFi was also considered to be an extra, costing us nearly £30 for 2 devices for the week. Given that there were no English speaking channels available on the TV, we relied upon a good WiFi service to watch our iPad. We unfortunately had 2 days of rain, which meant we were limited to what we could do outside.
We did take a trip into Alanya with the guy from the hotel shop, and were told there would be no pressure to buy anything. This wasn’t the case. From what we could gather, this was the same experience for everyone. We wanted to purchase a selection of items so we didn’t feel that we were being forced, just very conscious of the pricing. With one of the shops trying to charge €480 for a ‘ designer’ handbag. Although this wasn’t directly within the hotel, the taxi service was chaperoned by the hotel shop staff.
Within our room we were generally pleased with the standard and the service. We had fresh towels daily ( albeit a little on the worn side) the bottled water and juice was topped up every day and the bathroom was cleaned daily. I don’t think the floor was mopped very well, but it was still fine.
We did have to request for extra bedding as all we were provided with was a thin, hard sheet to cover us. When we asked for more bedding we were told that the bedding they provided in the hotel was suitable for the guests in the summer months and that they don’t operate in the winter months so didn’t require a heavier bed cover.
The hotel is positioned at the top of a very steep hill, and is definitely challenging for someone who has limited mobility. To get to the shops etc was a €10-15 cab ride away, but they were easy to get. We found a lovely place for food which was a 10 minute walk away and ended up going there 3 evenings.
Overall, we wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend.
Whatever good features this hotel has, the reception staff ruin it for everyone.
From the very first moment — even at 4 AM, when guests are exhausted after travel — the hard sell begins. They aggressively push you to upgrade to a pool-view room. The “price” starts at $20 per night and drops as low as $4 when they see you hesitate. The moment you refuse to hand over cash, they lose all interest. No welcome, no explanation of the restaurant timetable, à la carte booking, or even directions to the other pool.
The real nightmare came on 30 July, around 11:00 AM. I entered the basement lift (-1, beside the restaurant). The door struck my arm and shoulder, forcing me inside. Moments later, the power failed. I was trapped in total darkness — no emergency lighting, nothing. This is not only terrifying, it is against Turkish safety law (Regulation on the Operation and Maintenance of Elevators, Ministry of Industry and Technology), which requires emergency lighting in all passenger lifts. Operating without it is unlawful and dangerous.
Eventually, with the help of a technician, I escaped. But when I turned to reception for help, they refused. They laughed. One receptionist even said: “You are not the first, and you won’t be the last.” No apology. No assistance. No gesture of goodwill. Instead, when I pressed the matter, one staff member even threatened to call security.
This attitude shames the very idea of Turkish hospitality. It ruins the reputation of the hotel and overshadows the genuinely good work of the restaurant and beach bar staff.
As a result of this incident, I was left with bruising to my right arm and shoulder, pain when lifting my arm, and ongoing psychological distress — anxiety, sleep problems, and constant unease. My holiday was completely ruined.
My room was on the ground level right above the barbeque where the grilled meat and sometimes fish every single day, so imagine going out on the balcony. I was covered in smoke, my clothes smelled like fish.
Also from my bathroom came a strong stench of urine all the way to my bed. After each shower, water would leak out in the hallway getting my socks wet.
Even though i asked them to relocate me twice, nothing came of it! First time i asked they had no room, and the second time the next day they still had no room but promised to take care of the smell... Guess what? Havent heard from them again. So maybe skip this place for now.
The cabbies promised me that in earlier years it was better but this year a lot of other guests complained too.
Only positives,
Service staff was very friendly and the ac worked fine.
Beautiful hotel. Very clean. Food was ok. Drinks could have been better to fit with the surroundings. Cocktail list very poor 🙁.
Food selection was vast. No drinks service.
Day manager think he is MP & this hotel for his Mother (((((
Pros: Polite staff, clean rooms, good location, great variety of spa programs, very nice view, spacious territory, no screaming kids, sometimes day entertainment is fun.
Cons: main pool is a bit cold (october); meal menu is always the same; a-la-carte restaurant is barely available (if you don't instantly ask about it at the reception when you arrive, you can forget about getting the service); paid services are provided without a receipt; every time you order the same signature cocktail you'll get something you didn't expect - could be better or could be much worse; free wifi is only available at the lobby, otherwise it's a paid service, expensive and paid per device; one access card per room; they offer a sea view room (extra pay) at arrival OR you get the type of room you ordered via agency, however, you need to move rooms every few days; evening entertainment is fun once a week, other days are calm or boring (bingo, karaoke); night club is listed as available, but is closed at all times, so they offer going to a city club every other night for a few hours (15-20€ per person, drinks not included); beach bar has beer or awful wine and closes at 17:30.
