it's not a 5 star hotel. barely 3. Very dirty and loud. Been there with my family, we all got food poisoning, no aircon in the canteen, food is saggy. Bloody awful!

Il est clair que je ne retournerai jamais au sun star resort ************** EN: I have taken three trips to Turkey, and this was by far my worst experience. During my 14-day stay in August, I only had hot water in the bathroom for 4 days. Every single day I asked the reception to fix the problem because I was traveling with my 3-year-old son, and every day they gave me an excuse. After the 7th day, I threatened to leave the hotel and insisted on speaking to the manager, but they kept telling me he was “in a meeting.” Only after 7 days did they finally change my room, and I was able to get an acceptable service. The reception staff didn’t even take my requests seriously. When I came back the next day to tell them that the hot water still wasn’t fixed, the same person would write in their notebook that it would be done “the next day.” Inside the hotel, there are salespeople selling excursions. As soon as you tell them you’re not interested, they become very insistent, to the point of making you uncomfortable. This only happened to me in Alanya; when I stayed in Bodrum, I never experienced this kind of behavior. The food. My son and I were sick for 3 days because the water is not drinkable there, and I later found out they wash the fruits and vegetables with tap water. Several people got sick during the summer.

The hotel is poorly cleaned, with dirty cutlery and glasses. The sheets and towels aren't changed. The food is so-so; it's a 3+ star hotel, but not a 5-star.
The only positive was the clean, warm sea.

This hotel has such a great potential, with some many reviews about issues the owner could fix it in no time! We stayed at Sunstar Resort in Mahmutlar and were disappointed overall. The hotel looks nice at first, but several issues made the stay uncomfortable. Cups, plates, and cutlery were often dirty, and the snack bar — the only place where the food tasted good — was closed for several days. My daughter became unwell, and soon after we noticed some serious people taking food samples before the snack bar was shut for a deep clean. It makes us wonder if more people got sick and somebody reported it. Although we booked an all-inclusive holiday, food and drinks at the beach bar, as well as ice creams and some alcoholic drinks, had to be paid for separately. Daytime entertainment was minimal, and no one assisted us to the room when we arrived tired after 3 a.m. A chair also broke under my husband in the dining hall, and staff didn’t check if he was okay. It was like nothing happened. Maybe more appreciation for workers would change their work attitude. A few positives, like the location and views, couldn’t make up for the poor hygiene and lack of service. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t return. If you can book just a stay that's better option, shops and restaurants are very close and not too expensive. ( the room we've got was lovely, cleaners do really minimum but if you are tidy person, swiped and washed floor will be enough for you )

So disappointed, stay away at all cost. My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights. Staff were rude and unhelpful food is like groundhog day tasteless and cold we both ended up with food posioing. Not all inclusive we had to pay for alcohol at one of the bars as well as for the ice cream and slushies. Staff were rude and not helpful everything seemed like we were a nussiance when asking a question. This was a birthday surprise gift for myself and my partner was so deflated and upset. Will never return to this hotel. If I could give it no stars I would.

I have been to turkey 4 times before and this was the worst experience EVER!!!! First the drive was a ridiculous 2 1/2 - 3 hours to get to hotel...arrived at 2am and we had nothing to eat after a long travel with the kids, no snacks or drinks in the mini fridge that was advertised in rooms. The food is ridiculously cold and bland, same food from breakfast to late night soup. They've change the times of when dinner is served from 7pm-9pm to 6:30pm-8:30pm and didn't tell us upon checking in, we was left hungry after we went out shopping and came back and the kitchen was being cleaned, asked members of staffs how are we gonna eat and was told that dinner was finished, spoke to staffs at reception who didn't seem to care and was rather rude about it and said speak to chef in the morning about it and thats it. No apology or nothing! We had to settle for late night soup, which was absolutely filthy and cold. Breads are like stone. My daughter had to go to bed hungry as she didn't like it, me and my son had no choice but to settle as we were really hungry. Upon eating in the restaurant, which was in total darkness as the lights were all off, when there comes a cockroach 🪳 on the floor of the restaurant in a supposedly 5 star rating hotel...it's sickening, we left immediately. Cutleries are dirty and flies everywhere. All inclusive cocktails are absolutely disgusting, pre mixed with no taste or flavour. They only give you vodka or gin or pints of beer. Bars closed before the time that they're advertised to close. You and your kids are rushed out the pools before closing time, you just get told to get out. If it couldn't get any worst, i was ripped off by love holiday rep at the hotel, by convincing me to book a jeep safari for £80 when there's a tour place 1 min walk from hotel for £25 person (saw review about this late). I then tried to cancel after a few hours of booking due to my daughter becoming ill from swimming in the cold pools and was told that i need a medical report to obtain a full refund and i should go to the pharmacy to obtain one, i went there after walking about 30mins there, was then told i can't get it there, i have to attend the medical centre, which i did but it cost 1500TL for a consultation. I sent pictures of medication that was given to her, which was declined. However, I decided i ain't loosing my £80 like that i tried to rebook the date, but because my pick up time was 15:20, apparently there isn't enough time so we have to do the buggy safari instead, but before i booked it was enough time to get back, that's how much they are not willing to give me my money back. If it couldn't get any worse, we was locked out our room twice because the batteries on the door ran out, bare in mind we are on the 6th floor and had to keep on going downstairs back and forth. Again no apologies! It seems as we are begging to be here. Bathroom outdated and dirty, it's not being cleaned properly. Smells old and mouldy. Rooms furnitures

Well after booking we read the reviews and we're a bit worried. We are here now and all I can say is people moan about anything. It's a nice hotel good rooms lots of space. Staff do speak very good English and are very friendly.. The food is plentiful and if there is nothing there you like then there's something wrong with you, I'm a picky eater and there was always something I could eat. The food is warm not piping hot but able to be eaten and there is a microwave to heat it up if you wanted to. The drinks are good and good choice. The pool is good aswell. Basically what I'm saying is it's a very nice hotel and great value for money so all these reviews moaning about everything they should spend more money and go somewhere else. Ignore the bad reviews if your coming and have a great holiday !!

This is genuine feedback from my stay, and I strongly advise people to avoid this hotel. It is far away to be 5 stars; it is more like 3 stars. Food: The food is the same every single day with very little variety. If you expect proper all-inclusive dining, you’ll be disappointed. At both lunch and dinner, you often have to queue for food, and it’s very hard to find a clean table, spoon, fork, or knife. Many utensils are not washed properly, which makes the whole dining experience even worse. Pool & Sunbeds: The pool area is poorly managed. There are far too few sunbeds for the number of guests, so most people struggle to find one. Additionally, it’s unclear how the water is treated, but it is so irritating that you cannot keep your eyes open underwater without discomfort. Beach: They advertise a private beach, but it’s awful. It’s full of sharp rocks and stones, no sand at all, and it feels unsafe to walk , you can easily hurt your feet. On top of that, despite paying for all-inclusive, you still have to pay extra for beer and ice cream at the beach. Drinks & Bar: They show a long list of cocktails with fancy glasses, but in reality every drink comes in the same cheap plastic cup with no taste at all. The pool bar looks old and shabby, more like a run-down local bar than part of a holiday resort. Game Room: They even try to squeeze money out of guests in the so-called “game room.” Playing pool costs €10 per game, and half an hour on an old PlayStation 4 with outdated games is €6. Totally not worth it and just another rip-off. Location: The hotel is in a bad position, about 30 minutes away from Alanya town centre, with very little to do in the area. Staff & Pricing (be careful!): This hotel feels like a rip-off. They overcharge for everything. A man named Ahmed acts as a “tour guide,” but he’s only trying to take your money. For example, he charged me £100 for a pirate boat trip that actually costs only about €10 per person. On top of that,i ask staff from reception to order me 4 medium pizzas and when arrived been charged €50 and pizzas was smalles i ever seen — an absolute joke. Do not trust or buy anything through the hotel. If you want something, go buy it yourself outside. Rooms & Cleaning (the only positive): The rooms are decent, and the bathrooms are cleaned daily, which is the only good thing about this place. Overall: You pay for all-inclusive but you don’t really get it. The food is repetitive, the drinks are poor quality, the beach is unsafe, the “game room” is overpriced, and everything extra is a rip-off. They are clearly trying to take advantage of guests at every step. Stay away from this hotel – it’s not worth your money or time
