Brunswick Square Hotel in Brighton

Absolutely vile place with the worst digital customer service. Booked a twin room, in which upon arrival we received a double bed. Asked for a change to what we had booked and they said nothing was available. The bathroom had no toileteries, no loo paper and the cupboard was kept shut with a loo roll inside stuck under the door. The bed was cheap and not put together properly. If I could give this a minus rating I would.

Awful treatment from this place’s booked a room months ago, they us the day before our booking date there was a leak and asked if we could wait as hoped to repair the leak or a refund, we were booked for the Brighton half marathon on the Sunday so we were hoping for the repair, they said they will let us know by the end of the day, no contact at all, we ran, we emailed, so we turned up Saturday, we booked in online, no issue, but still no contact, we arrive no code to get in,we email,we called, eventually a message to say our room not available, no apologies no refund, what a way to treat customers!! We stayed here before 3 years ago no issues, but won’t be going back can’t be trusted, communication poor they clearly did not careless about their customers!! Avoid!!

To be honest I wouldn’t even give this hotel a 1 star! The experience was horrendous from start to finish. We booked this hotel due to its location mainly. The pictures looked good. In all fairness, we should have researched this hotel in more detail. I have seen better hostels than this hotel! It was filthy and smelly. They tried to charge us twice for the room. No reception desk- all communication was via WhatsApp! DO NOT BOOK!!!!!!!

Worst place to stay. No wardropes thin walls bed was leaning down wands very uncomfortable. People in other room had garden part woke us up at 3am till 6/7am. No air con. No prober receptionist. No breakfast. 

They pile a bunch of hidden charges into the fine print, then say “it was in the T’s and C’s”. They even have the audacity to charge for damages of the property BEFORE YOU EVEN STAY! Very dodgy company, avoid!

I had to find somewhere at short notice following problems with a house move and this place seemed like a reasonably priced & convenient option. However I am now wishing I had read the reviews here before I booked. I too had to provide a further deposit when I arrived, which hadn't been mentioned in the Agoda booking process. I then had to send a picture of my passport via Whatsapp, despite having the passport with me. I am now worried that they may now use these to scam me out of more money. The room failed to live up to the description in the advertising. There was a TV but it was fixed to the wall and the lead didn't reach the power socket so not useable. The WiFi worked in the foyer but not in the room. I tried to contact someone from the hotel staff about these issues soon after I arrived, but they had clearly all left for the night by then. In addition to these issues there were no plugs for either the hand basin or bath, and no bathroom mirror, so that made shaving & brushing teeth difficult. The bath has very high sides and there were no grab rails making climbing into and out of the bath risky - particularly for older, less agile guests. Furthermore when I returned to the hotel later in the evening I found all the other guests were in the foyer as the fire alarm had been activated. Some were trying to reset the alarm panel while others were trying to contact the hotel staff, but again to no avail. The walls seemed very thin so I could hear people arguing in the next room and also people moving about upstairs. The bed was moderately comfortable and the kettle worked but otherwise it was a very poor experience. I would have liked to raise some of these issues with someone from the hotel staff when I left ("checked out "!) in the morning, but again there was no-one to be found. Surprised that a place like this is a) allowed to operate, and b) able to operate through supposedly reputable sites & apps like Agoda.

Booked a superior double room. Upon arrival we were given instructions on how to access our room. We were directed down some crooked steps to a basement door, to which we entered. We found our room and accessed via key safe on the door. The room was disgusting, the bathroom was a dangerous and again, dirty place. When informing the hotel via whatsapp, They do not have anyone at the hotel at all. We were told they had made an error and we had been booked an apartment not a room. They did nothing to rectify the issue and we were told if we leave in 15 minutes we would get a refund. We then had to find somewhere else to stay, costing well over the amount we would have paid as it was Valentines weekend. I have attached images.
