The Station Hotel in London

I've used The Station for about a decade now and it's a smart looking place and generally busy with excellent staff. It's a bit on the expensive side and always has been. That's fine... except... The food is now turning up with at least some items tepid if not cold. It got so bad I wouldn't let the waiter/waitress leave until I'd checked the dish. I've had to send quite a lot back. Well, that was OK until the changes that have been developing took hold. The food costs a fair amount but there was plenty of it. You never felt short changed. It was always a generous portion. This is no longer the case. Some of the portions are quite rightly being ridiculed. The portion size looks small for the money spent - and we are not talking meat but basics like mash and a few, very few, pieces of broccoli. I can't recommend cold and meagre and I've personally moved to a nearby venue for Sunday lunch. It's not as posh, but the food is hot and delicious and because I graze rather than devour they'll happily box it up for me. I'll give a very specific example about the Station, they started serving French Onion Soup without cheese. It wasn't expensive cheese, just a Kraft slice, but it was so cheap to provide you have to wonder about what is going on.
