St George Hotel Wembley in London

Overall, the experience was fine, but for over £200 for one night, we expected much better. We were also hit with a non negotiable £50 deposit upon arrival, which we werent informed of.

On arrival, we drove to what we believed was the hotel car park, only to find it no longer existed and had been replaced by a building site behind the property. We called the hotel to double check and were told that parking was unavailable as it needed to be booked in advance and was now full. This requirement was not mentioned anywhere on the website or in our booking confirmation, which was disappointing and resulted in us driving around and finding pay at machine parking. Which luckily worked fine for us, as we arrived late at night and left early morning, however this was only 4hrs max stay, so wouldnt work for most.

The room itself was comfortable, but there was no bath plug, so a shower it was. This wasn’t a major issue, although as a couple without a bath at home, it’s always something we look forward to. The hot water also took a very long time to come through and no soap to wash your hands. Had to use the mini bottle of shower gel.

Breakfast was a little confusing. We walked into nothing… No greeting, no instruction on whats available or where to sit etc. There was no menu explaining the cooked breakfast options. There was a sad looking buffet table at the back offering toast, a small selection of cereals, and croissants, and to get a full English, we had to ask the lady behind the bar. Due to dietary requirements, I unfortunately couldnt have a full english at the time, so had to request “2 eggs and 2 bacon please”, which was fine, but harder than it needed to be. What was included in the full English wasn’t explained beforehand, and we weren’t asked how we’d like our eggs cooked. Once food arrive, it was not good. I received a plate of scrambled egg, on its own, which was absolutely stone cold and my partner recieved his full English but with a fried egg (the full English was fine but not great). We didnt have time to send my scrambled eggs back, so I resulted in stealing a sausage and a piece of bacon off my partners full English.

Location received 4* as we were going to the ovo arena that night, so worked perfectly with it being a few minutes walk. However, we were first floor at the front of the building, so the sound of London traffic overnight wasnt ideal (not the hotels fault, but a heads up if you can request a room away from the main road).

End result, we wouldnt return to this hotel

It was fine, the only issue was that the double bed was just two singles put together
