Edinburgh, 36 Pilrig St, EH6 5AL Edinburg, Velikobritaniya (in the centre) 🧭 Map
It's located in a best place with easy access to many of the tourist attractions in Edingburh. Place is clean with all amentities needed. Safe for solo travellers, girl friends.
The room was clean and nice, but the bathroom was very small. Parking is almost impossible, and even if you find a space, it’s paid after 8:30 on weekdays and paid on weekends. Not ideal if you’re travelling by car.
It was fine for me was ok! I had no children or partner , it was Average , I would use again .
It was really near to all tourist places and was well managed overall
Cheapest room and the room is best and also room is fully clean and the fully amenities is available
Location was fantastic, right beside tram and bus routes. Rooms were clean, comfortable and cosy. Family of 5 traveling and stayed in bedroom 3. Two double beds and two single beds with en suite. Close to shops and cafés. Highly recommend!

Area is clean but WiFi connection poor
Not too bad, after all it was only one night. Happy new year to the staff.
Good location with a bus stop & supermarket within 2 minutes walking. Easy to get into old town or going to Leith beach. Only drawback to our stay was that our room, room 5, had its bathroom OUTSIDE the room. To access it, you walk out of the room, through the hallway, past room 4 & then enter your bathroom. Got annoying after the first night when I’m fumbling around in the middle of the night for...
The hotel stated that it has a 24-hour check-in counter, but after arriving at the hotel, ringing the bell and calling the staff could not contact the staff to enter the hotel.
The room was very clean and very cost-effective
The location is good, the receptionists were very nice and helpful. Nice experience.

A lovely guest house in a quiet neighborhood with clean rooms. We stayed three nights during the Edinburgh International and Fringe Festivals and while a reasonable 20 minute walk to some venues, we found ourselves utilizing taxis to save time. Hosts were welcoming and gave us advice on transportation and food options. They even helped us warm some soup from the store across the street when we needed...
Tremendous value and a highly enjoyable stay I spent quite a while looking for the best combination of location, reviews, appearance, price and convenience and must confess to having been a little sceptical of the high scores I found at such a modest cost. But I found that they are totally justified. I received an upgrade on arrival and my hosts could not have been more helpful, giving me information...
Beautiful guest house, Maggie and Gordon were fabulous, room very good, comfortable bed, tea and coffee choices in room excellent and topped up through out stay. Very clean. Shower good with quality toiletries. Map of Edinburgh in room with bus numbers and routes marked very thoughtful and invaluable. Bus stop a few minutes walk away and buses every few minutes. Excellent location. Highly recommend
Kate was fantastic at check in and checked with me the next day to see if I needed anything. Great place to stay!
I was very happy with my stay in the end. The Guest House staff was very welcoming and helpful. I loved my room and would come back int he future. There was some initial confusion around whether my 2-night stay included breakfast or not (as my ******* booking clearly indicated it did). When I reached out to *******, the phone support was insufficient and inadequate. The Guest House did make up for...
The guest house was clean and quiet. The neighborhood is very safe and walkable. The linens and beds were very comfortable. It was a 35 walk to the Royal mile but we didn’t mind when the weather was nice. The only thing I would change is to have breakfast. It would be nice to have something even it was light.

The room was big enough, clean enough - but the shower was out of order. No alternative offered. Would I return? Yes - but would specify a working shower!
Staff on site were nonexistent . Have to phone the office to make arrangements - not easily done if you don’t have a voice plan on your phone. We had to ask a local person to make the call for us. Black mold around the shower stall.
Top hotel, very accommodating for arrival and departure. Very well located I recommend this hotel

No shampoo and shower gel, not cost-effective
The soundproofing in the UK is not very good. You can hear the people coming in and out of the room next door clearly. And try to choose a private bathroom.

Room was beautifully clean and comfortable. We loved the little extras of whiskey and chocolates, in addition to the selection of teas and biscuits.
My partner and I stayed here for two nights during a visit to Edinburgh to see Riverdance. The house is set on a quiet road off Leith Walk. On arriving at the house we were greeted by a lovely lady called Margaret who warmly welcomed us and showed us to our room which was beautiful. The style of this guest house is traditional with lots of modern and contemporary elements which was particularly evident...
Excellent experience and beautiful stay! Thank you!
A beautiful property within walking distance to the main attractions of Edinburgh. Shirley provided a map and advice on surrounding eateries and attractions. Our room was beautifully furnished and we were supplied with a selection of nibbles. A lovely place.
My wife and I stayed here between Aug 05 and Aug 09. Shirley greeted us and provided a whole bunch of useful tips and recommendations, everything from transportation to where to eat and what to see. The room was exceptionally clean and everyday she filled up a little basket of treats for us to munch on. The Scottish Whiskey was a nice touch. The house is about a 20min walk from the Royal Mile and Calton...
Lovely little guest house, great location to get downtown. Margaret was very sweet and let us check in early.

Great place to stay…way nicer than we expected. Host was also amazing and gave us great tips for getting around and things to do nearby. I would stay here again in a second…wouldn’t even look elsewhere.
Sherwood guest house is the perfect place to stay when visiting Edinburgh! It’s super close to the city centre with good public transport connections. The guesthouse is super lovely and the rooms are perfect for a city trip. Everything is clean and thoughtfully furnished. The highlight is the owner/hostess Vivienne. Super nice, accommodating and knowledgeable about Edinburgh!
Varmeste anbefaling herfra.
The host Vivian was amazing! So friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable breakfast was yummy with a good variety.. would definitely recommend !

Great stay! Very easy to get to by bus from Edinburgh and staff were easy to contact and helpful. Extremely good value for the room.
The host was very kind. Amenities such as shampoo are provided. The location is not so good, but I think it's reasonable considering the price.
It’s a very lovely room and clean. The amenities is good as well. Water is hot enough. Parking is provided. We enjoyed our night and re-book one more night to enjoy Edinburg. There’s a direct bus about 20-30 mins to central
All you need for a couple of nights. Clean, friendly, parking, WiFi. Not the easiest car access straight off main road, but on main bus routes if not driving.
We loved our stay at Acer Lodge. The room was spotless and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was delicious each morning. And the hosts were super nice and friendly. We definitely would stay here again and I will always choose to stay at a B&B over a corporate hotel.
Owners were super friendly and easy to get a hold of although I never saw them. The only recommendation I would have is they need new pillows. Other than that, it was a 10 out of 10 accommodation. Very convenient to being on the bus route also.

Enjoyed the stay although a bit noisy next to a busy street and the TV in our room was not working and couldn't be fixed.
This a nice cosy clean and tidy b&b the breakfasts are really good and u can choose what u want for breakfast
All though there were a few faults we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. We found the beds uncomfortable but it was because they were too soft for what we are used to so that's more down to personal choice than anything. Room was clean and had everything we needed, staff were friendly. Also very safe, we left one of the days when the cleaners were in, I'd forgotten my phone which was in a wallet with money...

You can experience the old English style stay. The rooms are neat, well ventilated and good kitchen. Few points to consider: 1) Elevator not available in Morrison Street apartments. 2)Their reception is 10 minutes walk from the Morrison Street apartments. 3) Suggest to avoid complementary breakfast, since they will be keeping the Continental breakfast items in refrigerator on the previous day. Their...
The apartment had all the appliances which made it very convenient to prepare food and air out any laundry. The apartment was also very clean (the service team would clean the apartment every morning), had wifi access and a TV. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was for the apartment not being very sound proof. I could hear people laughing and talking outside on the street and also in the neighbouring...
Really nice apartment, would have been perfect if it wasn't for the noise of trains underneath, I was in the bottom flat though.
Great service, good price, good location and good size space. Appliances are a bit outdated and the place isn't as looked after as a hotel room, but overall it offers great value.
I stayed in a single bedroom apartment, which is just big enough for 1 person, but not more. There is no lift in the 3 storey building and also there is no reception. Reception for these apartments are 5-7 mins walk from this place. So I wouldn't suggest it for someone who might have a lot of luggage. Apart from this, everything is fine about this place. Mr. Alan is quite a showman, he's not only playing guitar and singing very well, but also plays he's own video clips and shares interesting facts about Scotland and Edinburgh. Not sure if this has been recently taken over or not but the previous years reviews don’t really match our experience. The room suited our needs fantastically, 1 double bed and 2 singles (keeps the teenage daughters from arguing) and en-suite. The room was spacious and very clean. The area was lovely and a nice walk uphill towards Edinburgh centre. The room was incredibly clean, brew facilities in room available, working heater and tv, comfy bed. Overall and decent place to stay. Great location for getting around the city, our room was very dark, with scaffolding outside our window blocking most of the natural light. The shower was very poor, a trickle of water coming out. On the positive side the room was clean, bed was very comfortable and the TV worked. Overall a good place to stay for exploring the city and sleeping for the night.
The room was very clean, host was extremely friendly, and the location was within walking distance to most all tourist spots in the city.
A great stay! I had a really long weekend nice stay at Lantern Guesthouse! As a solo traveler, room 3 was big enough for me. The room was VERY clean and had everything I needed. The mattress was a bit hard for my liking and there was a dip on one side, but I was able to move over and sleep on the other side. Yes the room was a bit damp but that's just the reality of Scotland - there was a dehumidifier...
We greatly enjoyed our stay at lantern guest house. The hosts were very kind and gave us some guide pamphlets to help us find our way around the city. The location was convenient and very walkable! Thank you so much for the lovely stay!
Our host Richard was very welcoming and very helpful. The location was superb and it was quiet. Our room downstairs was somewhat lacking fresh air, very small for our luggage and damp. Otherwise a lovely stay.
The location was great. Richard was a nice host. The room was quite tidy, but it smelled musty and damp. There was mold growing on the bathroom walls. We got symptoms (stuffiness and cough) caused by this damp indoor air.

Room was very clean, except for dirty spot on the carpet, which might have been gum or a cigarette burn. The extractor fan was very noisy but i fixed that by removing a wad of dust. The shower door wasn't attached at the top, but was still functional. The lever to adjust shower temp was broken. Snoring from next room was annoying.

Everything was good except one thing. At 6 am the fire alarm went off. All the guests gathered outside the building in the dark. This is not the fault of the hotel. What is a problem though is that, when we (the hotel guests) tried to call the hotel's two emergency numbers, neither was working. Both went straight to voice email. (Eventually we figured out another way to contact the hotel staff - and...

Very Poor Conditions Paid in the region of £135.00 for a very below standard top floor room. Room in very poor condition 2 Metal beds on a very thin foam mattresses carpet needed exchanging facilities provide & bedding of poor quality. Breakfast needs to be earlier for those needing to travel & work 8:30 far to late.
