It's located in a best place with easy access to many of the tourist attractions in Edingburh. Place is clean with all amentities needed. Safe for solo travellers, girl friends.

The room was clean and nice, but the bathroom was very small. Parking is almost impossible, and even if you find a space, it’s paid after 8:30 on weekdays and paid on weekends. Not ideal if you’re travelling by car.

It was fine for me was ok! I had no children or partner , it was Average , I would use again .

It was really near to all tourist places and was well managed overall

The guest house was clean and quiet. The neighborhood is very safe and walkable. The linens and beds were very comfortable. It was a 35 walk to the Royal mile but we didn’t mind when the weather was nice. The only thing I would change is to have breakfast. It would be nice to have something even it was light.

The room was big enough, clean enough - but the shower was out of order. No alternative offered. Would I return? Yes - but would specify a working shower!

The soundproofing in the UK is not very good. You can hear the people coming in and out of the room next door clearly. And try to choose a private bathroom.

A beautiful property within walking distance to the main attractions of Edinburgh. Shirley provided a map and advice on surrounding eateries and attractions. Our room was beautifully furnished and we were supplied with a selection of nibbles. A lovely place.

Sherwood guest house is the perfect place to stay when visiting Edinburgh! It’s super close to the city centre with good public transport connections. All you need for a couple of nights. Clean, friendly, parking, WiFi. Not the easiest car access straight off main road, but on main bus routes if not driving.

We loved our stay at Acer Lodge. The room was spotless and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was delicious each morning. And the hosts were super nice and friendly. We definitely would stay here again and I will always choose to stay at a B&B over a corporate hotel.

Owners were super friendly and easy to get a hold of although I never saw them. The only recommendation I would have is they need new pillows. Other than that, it was a 10 out of 10 accommodation. Very convenient to being on the bus route also.

We drove to Edinburgh which made it a problem for parking and Averon Guest House had a free secure parking. Yet it was near enough to walk to Edinburgh Castle or Grass market for dinner. Overall and decent place to stay. Great location for getting around the city, our room was very dark, with scaffolding outside our window blocking most of the natural light. The shower was very poor, a trickle of water coming out. On the positive side the room was clean, bed was very comfortable and the TV worked. Overall a good place to stay for exploring the city and sleeping for the night.

A great stay! I had a really long weekend nice stay at Lantern Guesthouse! As a solo traveler, room 3 was big enough for me. The room was VERY clean and had everything I needed. The mattress was a bit hard for my liking and there was a dip on one side, but I was able to move over and sleep on the other side. The location was great. Richard was a nice host. The room was quite tidy, but it smelled musty and damp. There was mold growing on the bathroom walls. We got symptoms (stuffiness and cough) caused by this damp indoor air.

Room was very clean, except for dirty spot on the carpet, which might have been gum or a cigarette burn. The extractor fan was very noisy but i fixed that by removing a wad of dust. The shower door wasn't attached at the top, but was still functional. The lever to adjust shower temp was broken. Snoring from next room was annoying.

Everything was good except one thing. At 6 am the fire alarm went off. All the guests gathered outside the building in the dark. This is not the fault of the hotel. Very Poor Conditions Paid in the region of £135.00 for a very below standard top floor room. Room in very poor condition 2 Metal beds on a very thin foam mattresses carpet needed exchanging facilities provide & bedding of poor quality. Breakfast needs to be earlier for those needing to travel & work 8:30 far to late.

Delighted with my stay! Simple but very quiet & clean single en-suite room (No.3 on 1st floor) overlooking the rear garden. The best guest house I've EVER booked, not only in the UK (and I say it as a frequent traveler)! On the first day I lost my phone in a cab and the staff was able to find it without any information about the ride! In just 20 minutes the phone was at my door. They care and it shows!
