Argonaut Hotel, a Noble House Hotel in San Francisco

Actually, we weren't able to check in. On February 16th, it rained heavily in Los Angeles, and there were many traffic accidents on the highways. After driving for two hours, we decided to give up on going to San Francisco. We then tried to get a full refund, but the hotel refused, only offering two-thirds. Logically, given this unforeseen disaster, the hotel should have refunded the full amount.

When booking, I was charged three times for the same stay. The first two times were through the hotel’s official website, but I never received any confirmation emails, so I later booked again through Trip.com. When I checked in, the hotel still charged me for all three bookings, even after I explained the situation.

The staff insisted it was my responsibility to email or call them to verify the booking simply because I entered my credit card information online — even though I never received any confirmation at that time. I have travelled to many countries and stayed in countless hotels, but I’ve never experienced such unreasonable handling before.

To make matters worse, the room was filled with chargeable items — from snacks and water bottles to even a $20 bear toy placed on the bed. It honestly felt like the hotel was trying to squeeze money from guests in every possible way.

After much discussion, the manager agreed to refund one night only. They printed out multiple confirmation emails and online records to “prove” it wasn’t their fault, even though the confirmation emails were sent after my booking was made. At that point, I just didn’t want to ruin my trip further and had to accept it reluctantly.

This entire experience was frustrating, disappointing, and far from what I’d expect from a so-called noble or luxury hotel. I truly hope the management reflects on how they treat their guests.
