The hotel's location is good, about a 10-15 minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf, and everything else nearby is within walking distance. The room was indeed quite small, and being on a low floor made it feel a bit claustrophobic. The record player in the room was a nice touch. The hotel doesn't offer a buffet breakfast; breakfast starts at 8 AM and is à la carte (Ctrip previously stated it included breakfast for two, but it didn't). The food was decent, but expensive. Ctrip later helped resolve this issue, and I appreciate their assistance. Overall, the hotel's value for money is just average. Valet parking is very expensive (though it's pricey at most hotels). I had originally considered this hotel or the Hyatt, and after staying at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, I felt it was much better. The prices were similar, but the Hyatt had a better design, and with its higher floors and better views, it was more comfortable. I don't plan on staying here again.

I booked a newer room again, which was a bit better than the previous twin room with a bathtub. However, there was an issue with the air conditioning in the room. The wall switch control was broken and couldn't turn it off (it was extremely noisy). The maintenance technician came and turned off the AC, but the room was very, very cold at night, possibly because it was connected to the outside where the AC unit was located.

Great location, within walking distance to many attractions. The room was spacious, perfect for a family. We received complimentary water on the first day, but not on the second, so be sure to bring your own. I highly recommend the Korean restaurant across the street from the hotel – it was delicious!

BEWARE THE "URBAN DESTINATION FEE" which is not disclosed anywhere, including time of booking, at the checkin desk, verbally or in print anywhere. There are some shady practices and are difficult to fight after the fact, even though they're absolutely not disclosed anywhere, or even verbally at checkin. For the price and subpar rooms of a hotel listed in this class, an Urban Destination Fee shouldn't even be applicable. When challenged on this issue with the Director of Rooms, I was told the fee covers the coffee in the lobby, bottled waters at checkin, some access to discounts that were never mentioned verbally or in print, and the use of a record player in the room (yes, you read that correctly). What an absolute joke. Highway robbery. Stay far away from this, or any, property that doesn't disclose these or any fees up front! Do better Kimpton Alton!

Very close to Fisherman's Wharf, making it convenient for dining and shopping.

The air conditioning unit in the room was a floor-standing model, very noisy, and the overall facilities were subpar.

I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel. The staff's attitude towards guests is poor, especially when guests need assistance. During my trip, I accidentally left my electric toothbrush and toothpaste in my hotel room. Since I was still in San Francisco and hadn't left yet, I wanted to call the hotel to confirm if my items had been found so I could just go back and pick them up.

I called the hotel 5 times. On 3 of those calls, the hotel staff hung up on me either after understanding the situation or without even listening properly. Of the two calls where I did manage to communicate, the first person told me that housekeeping Lost & Found (L&F) hours were from 7 AM to 3 PM and asked me to call back during those hours. The second call was answered by the front desk. I explained that I'd lost something and wanted to confirm over the phone if it had been found so I could come get it. The front desk agent said the housekeeping manager was right next to him, but the housekeeping manager instructed me to fill out a bunch of application forms online, and then they would see how to respond. I thought, since the manager is right there, why can't they just help me directly?

There was another call where the front desk initially answered. They also suggested I submit information online, but after learning I was still in San Francisco and wanted to confirm and pick up my items immediately, they transferred me to L&F. L&F understood my situation and asked me to wait while they checked. I waited for about a minute, and then they suddenly picked up the phone again and said 'hello?' before hanging up on me.

This hotel's service mindset is truly terrible. I'd like to complain about all the staff mentioned above, including the housekeeping staff who answered my calls and the housekeeping manager. The front desk staff seemed impatient, but it wasn't really their job to help with lost and found. The main issue is that the housekeeping manager was right there, yet still instructed the front desk to tell me to fill out an online form. The front desk seemed helpless, but the housekeeping manager truly deserved the complaint. 😂 I hope this complaint is useful. If not, I will continue to email the hotel's PR department.

Great location, very close to Fisherman's Wharf. They offer complimentary bottled water, and the room was clean and even had a record player. There's a Michelin one-star restaurant on the ground floor. It's supposedly Filipino cuisine developed by Filipino-Chinese from Fujian, and the food is quite good, definitely worth a try.

The location feels quite safe, and it's convenient to get around. There are many places to visit nearby, and you can take the nostalgic tram to downtown (DT).

The hotel's location is excellent; it's within walking distance to Pier 39 and has a tram stop right outside. The on-site restaurant is fantastic, and the rooms even come with a record player! While the room furnishings and bedding are pretty standard, the cleanliness is good. You can order takeout and pick it up at the front desk, and they also offer luggage storage when you check out. The staff are very friendly.

The hotel has a nice style, but you can tell it's a renovated property from details like the elevator and the water flow from the faucets. There's no buffet breakfast, but there's an à la carte restaurant on the ground floor, and plenty of breakfast spots within a 5-minute walk. The hot water from the sink faucet was white (the shower hot water was fine), but the weather was warm enough that I didn't need hot water anyway. Many of the featured vinyl records had poor sound quality.

Excellent service. The plates could be better. The juices are not natural. It is situated in a tourist place, where people from all over the world visit, so they could improve on some special dishes with shrimp, making something special and different.

What an amazing place to eat! We were seated very quickly, the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. My only regret is that I had the mussels, because they raised my expectations so high, I will never be satisfied with just any dish with mussels again. My boyfriend loved the chicken and fries, and the 7 year old loved the clam chowder, and sourdough.

Dinner was delicious! Wonderful Italian inspired seafood. Dessert left something to be desired. Not special. But atmosphere was delightful and romantic. Very decent wine list. All in all a great dining experience

The crab and salmon were both fresh, delicious, and perfectly prepared. The fried green beans were quite good. The view was nice, too. Also, good bread. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would definitely go again!

Top of the line crab! My bother and I shared the "lots of crab" for two and it was very very good! Everyone in my group really liked what they ordered. The service was good, but not great. The prices seem fair. I would give it 4.3 but Google only allows 4 or 5.

Went for a cocktail and appetizers to take a break from walking. It is right on the water, and has a great view. The cocktails were delicious, and the oysters we had were fresh. Everything was way overpriced, as are most places in San Francisco. We spent $75 for 4 drinks and 6 oysters, not including tip.
01.01.2018 Shaun
A little pricey but the view is great and the food very good. No one should be shocked at the price of food here its in tourist trap and has probably one of the best views around. The shrimp cocktail was better then I would have expected I would recommend if you like that as an appetizer. If you like unsweet tea then don't get it here it has to come from a tap it has a slightly off taste to it.
13.12.2017 Jeanine
Very nice venue, great service limited menu, expensive, appetizers & entree for two $103. Coffee was $10!! Food was good, not great. I probably would not recommend because we were disappointed and won't be returning
Shown below the Crab Cocktail, packed so tight in the glass it was difficult to eat with a fork without crabmeat falling onto the table. Should have been served with a shrimp fork. The cocktail sauce had too much ketchup. No shrimp entree on menu. Crab Alfredo was boring & tasteless. Crab Enchiladas drowning in red sauce that wasn't Mexican, raw tortillas. Yep, not going back.

The service here was a little slow to start with but the food was delicious we had shrimp cocktail garlic clams, and a garlic parsley halibut dish that was very good. the kids fish was perfect. The drinks were stiff and the staff was polite. The views of the Bay and along the pier are top notch.
