Reviews
Super old, so there are some areas that seem worn, but it’s not run down looking. Will absolutely stay agains.
The room itself was extremely outdated, but the biggest issue was the ventilation and temperature control. You cannot control the temperature in your own room, which is completely unacceptable. Our room was unbearably hot. When we called the front desk, they said they would send someone up. The employee who came was very kind, but it was clear this is a frequent complaint and that staff are well aware of the problem.
We were told that once the hotel turns the heat on for the season, guests are stuck with heat only—you cannot switch between heat and air at any time. This critical information is not disclosed to guests, which is extremely misleading. Their solution? Turn the thermostat off and keep the windows open. That is appalling, especially for a hotel stay.
I requested a fan to be brought to the room. It never arrived. I had to call again before one was finally sent up.
Beyond the temperature issue, the room was poorly maintained. The furniture was outdated, the lighting was awful, and there were not nearly enough outlets—one set didn’t even work. There was a space clearly meant for a refrigerator, yet no fridge was provided.
The bathroom was gross. The shower pressure was excessively strong with no way to regulate it, and the tub would not drain. While showering, the tub filled up, turning it into an unwanted bath. The tub itself was visibly dirty.
Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing stay. Between the lack of temperature control, poor maintenance, and cleanliness issues, I will never stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone.
I am documenting my recent stay at Millennium Broadway Hotel so future guests can make an informed decision. The issues below are factual and documented with photos.
Room Type & Context
I was automatically upgraded at check-in to a top-floor suite because it was empty.
This room category normally carries a significantly higher nightly rate than a standard room.
All of the issues listed below occurred in this upgraded suite, not a lower-tier room.
Room & Maintenance Issues
Coffee table top was broken and not securely attached to the base.
Curtains were damaged and would not fully close.
Tile and grout work appeared poorly done, and at least one floor tile was completely loose and shifted out of place.
Bathroom floor was dirty upon arrival.
Bathtub did not drain for approximately three hours after shower use, leaving standing water.
Lamp had an electrical issue and would not stay on consistently.
Cabinet door in front of the refrigerator was broken off; cabinet appeared deteriorated.
One main closet contained no hangers, preventing proper storage of clothing.
Ventilation vent was loose and not properly secured to the wall.
Visible splatter marks on the ceiling and on furniture surfaces.
Noise & Elevators
Two elevators were out of service during the stay.
Remaining elevators produced loud clunking and banging noises that echoed into the hallway and room, starting around 7:00 a.m., repeatedly waking us.
Elevator usage was chaotic due to limited service — guests were pressing both up and down buttons just to get an elevator, boarding cars going in the wrong direction, and significantly increasing wait times.
Elevator repair personnel were actively working on-site during the stay (photos available), which did not meaningfully resolve the issues.
Cleanliness (Common Areas)
Hallway light fixtures were visibly dirty and poorly maintained.
Front Desk & Package Handling
Front desk interactions were unprofessional; multiple staff members, including a manager, were rude and dismissive.
A package I had shipped to the hotel was kept in a locked room and was not accessible when needed.
Because the package could not be retrieved, we incurred approximately $90 in additional out-of-pocket costs replacing items that had already been shipped.
Follow-Up & Resolution
Management response acknowledged only a delay in replying, not the condition of the room or service failures.
Compensation offered was limited to a future comp night with blackout restrictions, which I declined, as I have no interest in returning.
Context
I have stayed in hundreds of hotels across the U.S., across many brands and price levels. This was among the poorest experiences I’ve had—particularly considering that these issues occurred in what is positioned as a higher-end suite.
However, I stayed here with a large group, and despite hating to leave a negative review, the condition of our rooms was disgusting. The bathrooms looked worn down and poorly maintained, with what appeared to be mold in certain areas. The bathtub drain was clogged, causing water to back up, and I had to place a towel down to avoid slipping. The carpets were extremely dirty and worn; it didn’t seem like they had been properly vacuumed before our stay, as there were small pieces of trash on the floor.
On top of that, our rooms were unbearably hot. There was no way to control the temperature other than getting a fan from the front desk and cracking the windows, which barely helped. While I understand this is an older building, for the prices being charged, basic cleanliness and comfort should be expected. Not to mention the very outdated decor, but I don’t care too much about that.
Unfortunately, I would not stay here again or recommend it to others. If you’re willing to sacrifice cleanliness and a comfortable room temperature for location alone, then The Millennium may be an option—but otherwise, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.
