Very Quiet, Clean and Comfortable
Located across the street from Central Park. Wonderful service and comfortable beds. Our room was very quiet and we did not hear any street or outside noise at all.

The hotel is in a good location. The hotel has a long history, so the facilities are generally old. Because 70% of it is the residence of the elderly, only 30% of the rooms are open to the public. The overall service is very thoughtful. It is not recommended for couples or family travel. The architectural style is more European, unlike new hotels, which are more generous. The minibar is full of the cheapest things and is charged for except water. Although it is clean, it looks very old overall. The toiletries are from London's molton. The breakfast downstairs is the oldest Cipriani creation point, which is very good. Overall, I feel that if you are over 60 years old and like the quietness of a bustling city, choose this place. Because I didn't see many reviews, I happened to live here and came to explore. I don't recommend staying here unless there is really no other hotel to go.

Our only personal 'negative' is that although it's popular for hotels to use goose down duvets, we always remove them as they are too warm for our taste. We encourage providing a light blanket as a choice. Thanks for a wonderful vacation, one that will live long in our memories.

Great food, fun atmosphere and super friendly staff! When you find the perfect combination of quality food and service it's an amazing experience - to find it by surprise as a wayward tourist, it's astonishing. Tried a seafood pasta here and the quality of seafood was outstanding: prawns, scalops, and shrimp were all top notch. The staff were incredibly friendly: at one point we asked if a server would mind taking a photo of us - turns out she seriously knew how to use our beastly camera and was more than happy to try a couple different compositions.
If you've exhausted your caloric reserves after endless wondering through Central Park, Lavo should be a top contender for a fun and tasty refueling stop :)

We arrive and are told that it is $150 per person to get in, which is $600 total. They then let everyone behind us in with only ID's no requirements. We feel it might have been racially motivated. If not we are not sure why. All we know is that it was completely unjust and discriminatory. If we didn't see them let other people in with no qualms, it may have been a different story. This place should be ashamed of itself. We are music industry professionals who are visiting from LA. We will gladly find another place to spend our money.

UPDATE much better the third time. A better handling of lines.
What the heck is wrong with you people you overbooked the event 09-23-17. The entrance to the club was disorder and chaos. One guard I overheard said " I don't need a reason to let you in" and the people had their tickets and didn't do anything wrong to justify the actions taken by the guard. Simply what was happening was people with tables were top priority ( no vip line) even though they were NOT next in line. This caused people who were next, to be physically pushed to the curb, then priority walks in and a scramble to fill that gap caused people to try and regain their spot. Honestly too crowded, poor handling of the line, but the bartenders and the male worker in the bathroom were professional and polite. MY MAIN ISSUE WAS THE CHAOTIC SCENE OUTSIDE TO ENTER, a and THE CROWDING INSIDE. From Miami, Panama City, Prague, Amsterdam, Atlantic City, and Chicago there was never a issue such as this.

Crazy good Italian food.
All the apps were outstanding and their signature meatball was killer. It was the size of a softball and plenty to share.
Steaks were good too and we split the truffle gnocchi. The flavor of the gnocchi was rich, savory and flavorful. There must have been garlic in it, as I kept eating when I needed to stop.
All was amazing, service was good. Totally check it out.

The food is great and nice ambience but unfortunately we had to leave early because the rude waitress didn’t even give us a few minutes to order dessert. We asked her for a few minutes and a few minutes later she came back with the check! Practically forcing us to leave when we actually wanted to order more! Also had ordered appetizer and they forgot! Had to ask for Parmesan cheese 3 Times to different people before they finally brought it! Very bad experience and on my bday :(

Definitely needs a reservation however they do full table service in the bar areas on both the ground and upper floor. Food was really good, interesting that some of the sushi rolls have mayo on it but still taste fab. Staff and service really good. Yes it is worth a trip. P.s music is played but not too loud allowing room for conversation.

Really good food but pretty expensive. The presentation is amazing nice music. Also there is a long wait for food but it is worth it. The dessert is also really good. Finally the fortunes are really funny. The one I got said "Help, I am held hostage in this fortune cookie factory." It was funny.

*** Customers Beware ***
Walked in at 745pm for our reservation just to find a line out the door of people trying to get in !!! It was chaos!
Walked up to a hostess to inquire if i could just check in and her response was, "you'll need to wait in line like everyone else"....
The line was out the door as the "hostess was checking people in" (in 32 degree weather).... Found out that the one hostess was actually spending her time trying to find new reservations for walkin's... she was arguing with people who said "i Did have a reservation" but were clearly lying and other people trying to find any available table for the night.
Now it's 8pm and i finally get to the front just to learn that they didn't have our table ready !!! So my party of 3 is literally pushed up against a wall near a freaking sea of people in the lobby trying to avoid the chaos of everyone walking by. A Freaking mess ....
Come on Tao. You have a full lobby of people trying too squeeze into any table they can get while those of us with reservations are waiting up 20+ minutes while you try to sort it all out !!!

PS - your pepper beef was way over salted and your spring rolls are actually fried egg rolls. Consider changing the name in your menu .. and your drinks are ridiculously over priced.

Food was amazing but experience was soured at the beginning. Had a reservation but the restaurant was clearly over booked and we got sat 1.25hrs after our scheduled reso time. After complaining to the GM he did correct things and send over drinks on the house. The rest of the experience was amazing. Beautiful inside, fantastic dinner service, and food. Fortune Cookie dessert was amazing!!!

This is one of the finest restaurants we visited in ny city . when we entered the restaurants we were greeted so warmly. seated in an excellent area. food was super. we are vegetarians and were served very good food. our server ms catharyn was just outstanding .gave super service very pleasant in talking . Made us feel very special. all other staff was also very attentive. To find such a fine restaurant in new work is very surprising. would definitely recommend this restaurant.
