The location is highly convenient, close to Grand Central Terminal and major Midtown attractions. Staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful, with some guests noting upgrades and complimentary breakfast. Rooms are generally spacious by New York standards and offer amenities like robes and multiple pillows. Onsite restaurant and bar provide convenient dining options within the hotel. Fitness center is well-equipped, although somewhat dark, but valued by guests. Several guests reported issues with housekeeping, including lost items and inconsistent room cleaning. Noise from air conditioning units and hallway disturbance was noted, affecting sleep quality. Some rooms have maintenance problems such as loud fridges, broken fixtures, and damp odors. Complaints about lack of bottled water and limited room service after 10:30 pm were common. High room rates were considered not justified given the quality and service issues by some guests.

Very convenient to stay here - near to Grand Central Terminal, Bryant park and many other tourist spots. Great for a 1-2 nights stay to explore NYC.

Dear Trip Team

This is the formal complain I have made also to the westin

Following my recent stay at The Westin New York Grand Central, I wanted to share some detailed feedback as the experience fell well below the standards I would expect from a Westin property — and certainly not in line with the price paid.

As you know, when I checked in there was already an issue: all of the bedding sheets were crinkled and creased, which is not what one expects from a hotel of this calibre. Having stayed in many Westins around the world, I have consistently found them to uphold a much higher level of presentation and care.

Unfortunately, that initial impression was borne out by a number of other issues throughout my stay:

Room cleanliness and condition

The fridge emitted a very loud noise, forcing me to unplug it.

The air conditioning unit was extremely loud and largely ineffective.

The tissue holder in the bathroom is cracked and broken, and was never repaired.

The room had a persistent damp, mouldy odour.

There were visible stains on soft furnishings, including the carpet and sofa.

The blind does not fully raise, limiting natural light.

The cups, coffee pods and amenities were inconsistently replaced, and those provided were of a very low quality — including plastic cups and containers.

The bedding and pillows felt synthetic, hot and cheap, which detracted from comfort and sleep quality.

Housekeeping and service

On one occasion, the housekeeper placed my glasses lenses-down on the desk, leaving visible scratches.

When I requested that my room be cleaned later in the day, the housekeeping staff member responded quite offhandedly and appeared visibly irritated — again, not the level of courtesy or professionalism one expects from a Westin or indeed any high-end hotel.

In general, the housekeeping was careless: items left untidied, and even the robe simply thrown over the sofa rather than hung properly.

The overall impression was of a hotel operating at a far lower standard than Westin’s usual reputation, and the experience was frankly disappointing.

To put this in perspective, I booked through Trip.com at a total cost of £2,838.39 (approximately US $3,787.35) for three nights — or about US $946.83 per night. That is an exceptionally high rate by any measure, and for that level of expenditure I would reasonably expect impeccable service, spotless rooms, and premium amenities.

Given the number and seriousness of these issues, I believe a partial refund or equivalent compensation is entirely justified. I appreciate that my booking was made via a third-party site, but I would expect the Westin brand to take ownership of guest experience regardless of the booking channel.

I have now checked out of the hotel, but I would be grateful if you could confirm what you can offer by way of refund or credit. I would appreciate a reply within three business days, after which I will consider escalating this through corporate channels and via Trip.com’s complaint process.

I am providing this feedback because I believe it’s important that management is aware of these issues, both to ensure consistency with Westin’s global standards and to prevent future guests from experiencing the same.

I have already been in touch with your colleagues Veronica and Allen - and I am going to copy you into the thread with them where I resend this message.

Kind regards,
Ben

The housekeeping lost my pair of pajamas that was out on my bed...This is seriously ridiculous! And bad service from the concierge. The manager has no communication with the concierge at the lobby and she was absolutely clueless and asked me to email the manager myself. What a joke. Never going to be back again!

The hotel is in a very good location. Alexandra was so nice that she gave us a complimentary breakfast and accommodated us even before our check in time. It was a good experience. Although breakfast has a lack of food variety, it was good.

Who's have thought this place would turn into a club at 11pm on a Friday. Stopped in for a quick drink on a Friday night after walking back from a show to our nearby hotel and the place was packed. We were hoping for a quiet place to have a nightcap... This definitely was not it.

The bartenders were nice enough. Eventually they brought around tube shots. That was the only table service we got though. I'm assuming their kitchen must close around 10pm.

Nice old fashion Irish bar with a nice menu. Appetizers ,dinner or just drinks along with plenty of televisions to view your favorite team. Nice staff, restaurant and restrooms very clean. Music by the bar is not to loud crowd nice. Plenty of happy hour specials. They have some burgers of gigantic proportions, try the one in between a grilled cheese sandwich. I did not have it but soon Will. Great appetizers

This is the best place in town on game days if you are a Buffalo Bills fan. They have drink specials and the game on all the screens.

Went for a Michigan game. Had fun. Amazing steak. But then one of the bouncers (not the great big guy; the shorter one) was a complete jerk after I came out. A real bully. Won't come here again.

This is a great place to grab breakfast or lunch. The hot buffet for breakfast in the morning is great (eggs, french toast, little brioche egg sandwiches, sausage, home fries, frittata) and they also have some amazing pastries as well. The lunch is delicious between the daily italian hot food (pastas, vegetables, and meats/seafood) and classic italian sandwiches and small salads. It is a little bit pricey, but then again it is Cipriani. P.S. - always look for the daily sandwich specials.
17.12.2015 Sean
My coworkers must think this is the only place I go for lunch. As a carboholic and a vegetarian I appreciate their daily pasta specials. A little pricier than I'd love to spend in midtown for lunch, but the quality is top notch.

Was just here for a charity event and it was very well done. The staff are very well versed in the food that they're serving. The interior of the space is gorgeous. The food is great quality and really tasty. And the bartenders serve great drinks. I'll definitely jump at a chance to attend another event here.
