Many of the reviews are dated. I stayed here one night, it was very clean, I had a comfy bed and it served the purpose. Yes its not a new build and there are stairs that you have to carry bags up. It was affordable and reception staff friendly

In a place where every inch of land is at a premium, the price/performance ratio is very high.

This is not a hotel, this is not even for the normal people. It is cheap and it non-refundable, which is why it is scam. Rooms are way too small, dirty, with stained sheets and plenty of somebody else’s hair on bed. Bed is not comfortable at all, as well as pillows. There isn’t place for luggage, on the wall there’s naked lightbulbs, useless table etc. Shared bathrooms are gross, dirty, with hair everywhere, really unpleasant experience. They wanted to move us into other room, but that one was dirty and with ripped sheets as well. In the most rooms there isn’t window, and one that it has, have bed smelling and dusty curtains. All of that with non-refunding.

Small room but clean. Toilets and shower facilities are shared. It's just a no frills hotel. Prices relatively cheap given its NYC. Obviously if I had the money to go elsewhere I would. This is just barely above hostel level but for the money is hard to argue with it.

You get what you pay for and this is one of the cheapest hotels I could find in Manhattan. This is not a hotel you book to hang out in your room or at a pool. You book it to have a place to sleep, shower, and store your stuff. Room is tiny, just barely fits the bed and a desk. Only had one suitcase which was good because if I had two it would have been very cramped. Bed was comfy enough and I didn't see any bugs. I could hear other patrons through the walls when in the hallway, but my room itself was quiet. No room service. Pack these items if you are going to stay here: WATER (no free drinking water, $1 cash per bottle at reception, ask for cold from the fridge) SHOWER SHOES WALL CHARGER (no USB ports) YOUR OWN SOAP (soap provided, but they are communal) A NIGHTLIGHT (the room lights are insanely bright and in such a small room it almost gave me a headache at night) Best thing about this place: a delicious and cheap Chinese bakery right across the street called 'New Kam Boat Bakery.' Great for a quick breakfast or a snack to save for later. I would book here again because it got the job done.

Clean, safe, and air conditioned! Could not ask for anything more for this price in Manhattan in the summer. The location was excellent with amazing restaurants all around, the staff was really nice, and the three shared bathrooms on the floor meant that there was rarely any wait (if that is something you're nervous about). Obviously not a five-star hotel, but as other reviews have said, manage your expectations and you'll be fine. It gets the job done! In fact, we were relieved to see what the hotel was REALLY like after reading some of these negative reviews. They are definitely not representative of what it's like to stay here. We had a really good experience. And the somewhat small, windowless room was no problem-- we came to the city to see it, not to be locked up in a hotel room all day :) Would definitely stay here again.

Simple. Cheap. One knows why staying here. Shared bathrooms but great price for the location, and private rooms. Indeed no window (!) in the rooms, yet for someone who just wants a room to sleep, and cope with NYC sky-rocketing budget, it does the trick.

This place is legit, I came to nyc for one night to celebrate Halloween weekend. And I got a 2 bed with a bathroom for $200, and they didn’t even charge me for a deposit. Listen it’s cheap, clean, has a strong WiFi, close to Little Italy, and the J Train.
The beds are uncomfortable so I’d suggest bringing one of those cheap yellow bed pads, and the bathroom is poorly lit so bring a vanity light if you need too. The staff is nice, and they work hard to keep this place cleaned. I’m not a clean freak but I did worry about bed bugs and I spent some checking under the mattresses and sheets to see if I could see any.
For the price you can’t beat it, I love it and will be back

Realistically this place is good for us location and price, not so much anything else. The rooms are extremely small, no windows, and there's no personal toilet. Tying to use the restroom was almost always a hassle, as you must share with the rest of the guests. Generally speaking, it's located in a good spot and was the most affordable option.

Not sure about all the other negative reviews but for the price, this place got the job done. The rooms are incredibly small (the bed takes up 60-70% of the room) but it was generally clean. Shared bathrooms were also pretty clean. There are no elevators, only stairs, so prepare to get your steps in. They provide two bath towels, but you’ll have to bring your own toiletries including hand soap. The front desk was very friendly and there is a bag holding area if needed. My stay was also pretty quiet, yes the walls are thin, but the people were pretty respectful on noise. All in all, for the price, this is a great place to stay if you’re just sleeping. Pare your expectations and you’ll be fine.

The barmen had serious attetude,, the place is very dated not In a cool way. There are enough nicer bars around to avoid this bar.

Sweet bar with great bartenders! I love the cocktails here and the environment is always nice. I come here often after work for a few drinks with my coworkers.

Seems to be a neighborhood spot. Great music, but limit beer selection; two doors over is their beer bar, but I didn't make it there.

Walked to this place, from out of town, allegedly known for their martinis and Irish coffee. This confusing set of establishments with the same name, in a crappy neighborhood serves neither cocktails nor Irish Coffee! Stay on Mulberry Street!

Chill place to grab drinks with a group of friends. I visited on a Sunday night for a friend's birthday, and our group of 10 sat in some very comfy chairs around a table near the door. Our waitress was very nice and quick to serve us, and their beer selection was adequate. While we sat in the lounge area, the place also has a very long bar with high chairs. This seems to be an ideal place to go if you feel like having a conversation with a group of people.
