Reviews
Probably wouldn’t stay here again. Genuinely surprised by the high rating.
A friend and I stayed here while visiting Philadelphia for a Mariah the Scientist concert. We checked in around 4:30 PM and were originally placed on the 23rd floor, which was perfect because we had specifically requested a higher-level room. Shortly after getting to our room, and before leaving for the concert, our TV volume was on 15.
Around 5:30–6:00 PM, Jamal came to our door saying we had received several noise complaints. That was very confusing considering we had just arrived and weren’t being loud. When we calmly asked what the complaints were about, his whole attitude changed once he realized it was just two women in the room. He immediately became disrespectful and aggressive.
He told us we needed to change rooms because “there were all white judges on our floor and they weren’t tolerating us.” He also said he was “trying to help us because we are Black,” but that we were making it harder than it needed to be. He then added that if another security officer had to come up, he would “send a white man” who would immediately remove us from the hotel.
Being that we were from out of town with no immediate way home, we felt pressured and agreed to move. However, instead of moving us to a similar floor, we were taken from the 23rd floor down to the 9th floor — even though we had requested and already been given a higher-level room at check-in.
The entire interaction made us feel uncomfortable, unsafe, and honestly discriminated against. We returned from the concert around 11:30 PM, but we ended up leaving at 4:00 AM instead of staying the rest of our reservation because we did not feel welcomed or respected. No one should feel targeted or threatened after paying the same amount as every other guest.
This experience was deeply upsetting and completely unacceptable.
The location is fantastic — easy to walk almost everywhere in Center City.
Service was friendly, and breakfast at Bank & Bourbon downstairs was delicious (we ate Eggs Benedict two days in a row — the crispy potato skins were great!).
However, a couple of issues kept me from giving a full 5 stars:
🚽 Room Maintenance Could Be Better
The toilet tank wouldn’t refill unless we manually nudged the float ball every now an then.
Because of that, we had to put the tank lid on the floor often so we could keep fixing it.
Also, our bed sheet had a tear — not a big deal, but unexpected for a 4-star hotel.
We didn’t request a room change since we had already unpacked and the issues weren’t major enough to bother the front desk during the holiday.
📍 Bottom Line
We genuinely enjoyed our stay and would return — a few small improvements in room maintenance would easily make this a 5-star experience. Great comfort, great location, and overall a great choice in Philadelphia.
The rooms are very nice and clean. The bathrooms and showers are very clean and updated.
The front desk was very nice and accommodating.
2 blocks from Redding Market Place.
About 5 blocks from Convention center.
Many other great places and sites nearby.

But, what I really appreciate about this place is the friendliness of the staff. They're prompt and always willing to help. This week, when I needed to store flowers to surprise someone, they even offered to hold them for me so that the surprise would work well.
