As one of Philadelphia's premier hotels, I had high expectations when making my reservation. However, the service quality during my stay proved to be a thoroughly disappointing experience. Over my four-night stay, my room key card required daily reactivation at reception for reasons unknown. When this issue first arose, it remained unresolved. No apology was offered on the second, third, or fourth occasion until my departure, and I was even asked to provide proof of the problem. This is hardly the sort of error one expects from a hotel of this calibre. Fresh fruit I'd purchased was stored in the refrigerator, though I was unaware it was faulty and not cooling at all, resulting in the produce spoiling. I sincerely hope others do not encounter the same issues, and that my review serves as a reference for those considering booking this hotel.

The hotel is located close to the City Hall, in the downtown center of Philadelphia. The Philadelphia City Hall is a landmark building in American history. Its clock tower is taller than the Big Ben in the UK. You can climb to the top to visit. The hotel lobby is very grand, with a marble dome-shaped roof and transparent glass in the middle that can see the sky. The service is warm and polite. Recommended.

This is the first negative review I’ve ever written. On December 20th, I went out for Christmas cocktails with a few colleagues at the lobby bar. There were no available seats, so we opted for the counter space near the chandelier. We weren’t obstructing any wait staff, blocking Christmas decorations, or disturbing any diners at nearby tables. However, the waitress was extremely rude to us, as well as to other customers in the bar area who weren’t seated at the bar. She approached us in a dismissive manner, asking us to move, and then repeatedly insisted that we check our coats, despite our coats not being in anyone’s way. After purchasing a bottle of Prosecco, we simply wanted to enjoy it without being harassed. Eventually, the hostess came over to ask us to move, claiming the area was reserved for “guests.”
If we weren’t considered guests, then what exactly were we? The Ritz-Carlton is known for its exceptional customer service, but this experience was far from that standard. I often entertain clients at this bar, but after this incident, I will never return. We left and went to the Four Seasons, where the service was impeccable, and we were treated like true guests.

Stayed at The Ritz for a work a work conference. Room #1817 was big and clean with great views of the city and City Hall. The bath products were nice. The lobby was impressive. The staff was extremely attentive, friendly, helpful, and professional. The location was perfect. Easy to get around the city. Can't wait to go back. I recommend The Ritz in Philadelphia, PA. I had an amazing stay with them.

This Ritz truly sucks. I stayed here for one month on business. The customer service here is awful. First off, they do not just automatically deliver packages to your room when you get a package. Several colleagues of mine received surprise packages from friends, and did not receive their packages in a timely manner because the hotel just holds them instead of acting like a proper 5-star hotel and delivering them to the room. I went to pick up a package at the front desk, and was refused by a punk kid working the front desk because I did not have ID--even though a grownup who helped me a couple days earlier gave me my package without question and did not ask for my ID (avoid Shane at the front desk everyone!).

There were several occasions where I called downstairs for something--towels, bath mat. Then no one ever came to my room. I had to call multiple times just to get a damn bath mat sent up to my room and I had to complain about how I was being ignored just to get a rise out of anyone. The elevators are also soo slow. There is no lobby area separate from the hotel restaurant where you can just sit and lounge.

All in all, this place really sucks. This is not a Ritz Carlton--only in price.
