MEKHTAR CARAVAN SARAI XIX in Bukhara

Our hotel room was so dirty, hair all over the floor, toilet door would not close, blood stained and ripped sheets (yes, seriously). The bathroom smelled mouldy and was caked in a layer of dust and dirt. It was evident that neither the room nor the bathroom had been cleaned before we checked in. When we complained they offered us even dirtier sheets, and a room that was equally dirty and uninhabitable. We left after one night. STRONGLY recommend staying elsewhere. Even their breakfast was subpar.
ALSO, this hotel has changed their name several times online to hide the bad reviews - on booking they were first called "Mekhtar" and then just "Hotel".
On Booking.com where i booked it, they didn't include an accurate address - only the street name, which made it very difficult to find. I also saw they were listed twice on booking.com under two different names, one with low ratings, and another one with (surprise) very high ratings (and shocking only one reviewer!!!) They are obviously intentionally misleading the public. DO NOT STAY.

DO NOT book a taxi/ transfer through this hotel. They will definitely try and rip you off.
Like many others we got to the accommodation and they were “over booked” so we got shifted to another hotel around the corner. But to be honest I wasn’t sad about the hotel change as this hotel looked nothing like the photos from booking.com, it was significantly smaller, dustier and older. So many more beautiful places just a little further into the city that aren’t going to charge you crazy hidden fees on top of your stay.
Just don’t be fooled and book with them.
The hotel they did put us in was nice, clean and they were helpful- just not the place we booked.

Thoroughly disappointing stay and far far too expensive for what you get. I thought I was getting a quaint, comfortable, and 'authentic' caravan serai stay. Perhaps other rooms are nicer but my room was horrible. One of the worst rooms I've ever stayed in - ever.

The hotel's photos are likely dating from its original opening many years ago which is probably the last time any maintenance was conducted. The cleaning of rooms in-between guests would be an absolute minimum.

Dust everywhere. Carpets need a thorough steam clean or just to be replaced. Very uncomfortable beds with sheets that are rough and not even shaped for the bed. No shower curtain, bathroom in horrible shape (refer to pictures).

Contrary to other reviews, the spread for breakfast was decent and there was no issue with freshness. No pepper though and don't expect serviettes unless you ask for them.

Location wise it is okay, one can walk to all worthwhile tourist destinations, but the location itself is not very enjoyable.
