Queen Light Hotel in Hanoi

Really 2.5 stars. All rooms are smoking and smelled like musty smoke. Our room was large with a desk and plenty of space. The wardrobe allowed us to hang out cloths of we wanted. The bathroom had a separated shower, but it leaked and was without a shelf so you had to put your toiletries on the ground. The "king" bed is two interconnected smaller beds with hard foam in the middle, so you couldn't actually use it as a king bed with your partner. The staff spoke loudly in the morning, often waking us. The worst part is we had a window that opened to the hotel itself, but none that opened outside. It would be better to have no window at all because at least then it would be quieter. Large breakfast spread. We didn't eat breakfast there, just had coffee on our last day, but it seemed popular.

Stayed for two nights this week. On arrival we were put in a room next to very noisy guests who didn't sound like they were going to quieten down, so we asked to be moved. They 'upgraded' us to a different room in another 'block' which was much bigger and quieter. This hotel I found to be clean and smell much nicer than some other hotels we've stayed in, yet we spotted two cockroaches. The downside to the room we stayed in was it had a window which connected to the stairs, and therefore reception, and the staff talked quite loudly while they were working (either late or early).
The WiFi was good. I think the staff felt a bit aggrieved that we stayed for another night in a better room at a lower price, even though we said we'd be happy to move. I would have given another star otherwise.
