The Diamond King Hotel is right in the heart of the Old Quarter, and the location is excellent. You’re close to everything, which is a huge plus.

The hotel itself is dated and very basic, with absolutely no frills. The photos online don’t really reflect the current condition — the place feels run down in parts. That said, I stayed four nights, slept comfortably, and had no major issues.

For the price and the location, it’s a great deal. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely nice to engage with. I felt safe throughout my stay, which is important.

I would recommend this hotel, but with realistic expectations. You’re getting a 1–2-star property that earns good reviews mainly because of its price, location, and staff - not because of the facilities or aesthetics.

One thing to note: the rooms we had did not have windows. I’m not sure if this was due to the room type I selected, so this isn’t a complaint — just a warning to double-check and book a room with a window if that’s important to you.

Fantastic value hotel. Clean and tidy, staff were very friendly and helpful. Amazing location but quiet room. The only issue I had was that the mattress was very hard.

Extremely friendly staff. Everything was clean and they were helpful with bags, picking local spots such as food, directions, etc. The cafes across the street are excellent and the banh mi next door was delicious, so you can grab caffeine or a bite if you dont wanna go far. Its only a minute from the main road for bus trips like ha long bay.

This hotel is right in the heart of the Old Quarter. You can catch buses for all major tours directly from the doorstep, and most of Hanoi’s popular attractions are within walking distance. The area feels quite safe, and many party places nearby stay open until 1-2 am.

The staff here are extremely humble and very supportive, especially the team at the reception. The rooms are decent in size considering the location, and the pricing is appropriate. Everything provided in the room was in good working condition.

Overall, a solid choice if you’re staying in the Old Quarter.

Stayed here for most of my hanoi stay. It’s located near enough in the Old Quarter that makes it easy to walk around, but it’s not in the middle of all the noise. Got the basic room which was clean and had the basic amenities and hot water. The concierges, Tracey and Kane, are incredibly helpful and were the reason my stay was comfortable and hassle free.

This is our second stay at this hotel, this time a Classic room at 306 (no external window) for one night. The room looked clean at first glance but soon we discovered many small ants on the coffee tray and more circling around a suspicious brown object on the dressing chair (forgot to take a photo). Reception and house keeping were both apologetic and responded quickly. Later on, we discovered the bathroom ceiling to be mouldy and front of the bed has very dusty cables (photos attached), by now we were too tired to call the reception and regretted booking this hotel. Unfortunately we have another reservation for 2 more nights here (Deluxe room) and we asked them to make sure it’s clean. We don’t mind budget hotels but cleanliness is very important.

Apart from cleanliness, the room has one internal window to the corridor (no privacy) and two single beds. On the positive side, hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.

Good location for Old Town. Hotel a bit worn. Pleasant staff, particularly at check in.
Our room was adequate but fairly worn out with the window hard to close.
Easy hotel to walk out for food.

Double room with window overlooking the hall felt a bit claustrophobic, due to the absence of day light/fresh air. It also smelt a bit odd, like moist/mold. Great location though, and great breakfast.

The hotel is very centrally located and all the rooms have good air conditioning and a refrigerator. They also provided me with a hairdryer, razor and toothbrushes. Fast WiFi and very good breakfast is included in the price always. Check in was convenient and the staff were nice. The bathroom was very nice but perhaps they could clean the lime from the surfaces of the water outlets for a smoother experience. Some noises from outside can be heard in the rooms, take earplugs with you.

Good location, walkable to most of attractions of ancient town, restaurants and bars. Clean and quiet room but quite small, smaller than what they describe, about 16m2 (172ft2) for double room. Breakfast was good and change everyday. Doormen were so polite and helpful, but the reception was very arrogant, I booked 2 single beds but they give me double bed and when I complained they said that I didn't pick type of room! even I still have my booking confirm, anyway just don't want to have any argument after a long tired trip. But I would not come back.

This hotel is a haven from the frenzy of the Old Quarter streets. Exciting as it was to explore the Old Quarter, the comfortable rooms with double-glazed doors and windows kept the noise under control when we needed a break. Breakfast buffet was excellent although restaurant meals did not reflect the fresh Vietnamese cuisine we were looking for. Staff could not have been more helpful. The concierge walked us to a nearby massage centre where the prices were cheaper and the service more professional than many of the other centres that proliferate the area. When we had to check out before breakfast to catch a flight the staff organised a takeaway breakfast bag for us.

We booked this hotel through a tour company that we followed for our entire trip. The staff are extremely friendly, great locations and noise level in rooms is low to none surprisingly! My only issue was bed bugs. We slept one night, i felt like things were crawling on me, but im an overly paranoid person so i let it go. The next evening we were taking a nap and my fiance felt like he got bit. We found many bed bugs in the bed. The hotel staff seemed not too familiar with the subject, and were happy to change our room and wash all of our clothing free of charge. The next day we walked by the room and saw the maid simply changing the bed sheets. To me, bed bugs require more treatment than just changing the sheets. We did not have the bed bugs follow us to any other hotels after. I believe this was probably an isolated issue and everything else about the hotel was great, just wanted future travelers to be aware.
