Vibe Hotel North Sydney in Sydney

Check-in was pleasant and promptly attended to.
The room looked comfortable enough upon arrival but felt somehow lacking. Tissues were not logically placed not easy to find. Two significant and related issues I had were that for the price, the bed on my side was tilted and I woke up with a bad back. This should not happen at a hotel like Vibe for the price charged - and it was clearly not an issue that arose just before I arrived.

Most disappointing of all was the checkout. When I mentioned the issue with the bed and my back issue, the front desk staff thanked me for letting them know. There was no attempt at an apology for the discomfort and inconvenience, nor any offer whatsoever, to make it up.

One or the other would have been sufficient for me. It felt like the opposite of what good customer service is about. It left me with a really bad vibe. Pun not intended.

I’m an Aussie and have lived in Japan for much of the past 25 years. My experience in Australia even at 5-star hotels has generally been disappointing. Someone somewhere reading this could create or brush up a hotel business to make it highly regarded with just a few low-cost adjustments to service.

The question to be asked should be “is this about us (the hotel staff and owners) or is it about the guest?” I’ll leave you to work that out.

Overall the positives were far outweighed by these negatives.
