Berger's Sporthotel in Saalbach

I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel in March 2026. The staff are attentive, friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little dated but it has a homely, comfortable atmosphere. The food was nice, the room was clean, comfortable and warm. I would return to this hotel if I travelled to these parts again. Andy M.

Very nice hotel close to the slopes and in the middle of town, so not too far from shops, bars, restaurants, etc. Staff were all friendly, rooms were comfortable (some are a bit small but I believe upgrades can be organised if available), and food on Half Board was all very nice (decent spread at breakfast, salad buffet/soup/appetisers/desert from the buffet for dinner, alongside a main off the menu). Would definitely stay there again.

Great staff and very friendly. Cheese board nearly killed me as I couldn't stop eating all the choices so I've put on some weight this trip. Thanks to everyone at the hotel.

We’ve just come back from a brilliant holiday in Saalbach and had an outstanding stay at the Berger Sporthotel. Even before we arrived, the team made a great impression — we contacted the hotel directly with a few questions and the response was quick, friendly, and genuinely helpful. From the moment we checked in, every member of staff was welcoming. The atmosphere at breakfast was especially lovely, with the waiters happily singing to themselves and creating a relaxed, cheerful start to each day. The breakfast selection was huge, with something for everyone, and the evening meals were just as impressive — a generous four‑course offering with a relaxed approach to timings that made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. One evening, the owner came around to speak to guests and shared the history of the hotel, including how it was the first in the village for skiing. It was a really personal touch and reinforced the family‑run feel of the place. The hotel’s facilities were excellent. The heated boot room was spacious and well organised, and the new spa area — complete with swimming pool, sauna, and steam room — was a perfect way to unwind after a day on the slopes. Location-wise, it couldn’t be better. One lift is about a three‑minute walk away and another around six minutes, making it incredibly convenient for getting straight onto the mountain. The hotel is also right in the heart of Saalbach, so après‑ski options are all on the doorstep. Evenings at the hotel were great fun too. There are two bars — a lively main bar where meals are served and where the live entertainment takes place, and a smaller, quieter bar for a more relaxed drink. The live music nights were fantastic, with people dancing upstairs on the viewing gallery and a brilliant atmosphere throughout. Overall, this is a warm, welcoming, family‑run hotel with great facilities, great food, and great people. We had a fantastic stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return. We absolutely loved our stay at Berger’s Sporthotel. We stayed in the Annex, which is in a perfect location just opposite the main hotel. The room was thoughtfully laid out, with plenty of space for ski gear, and everything was spotlessly clean. We opted for half board, and the food was excellent with a great variety each day. A special mention to our waiters, Will and Fernandez, who were incredibly friendly and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. The hotel’s location is ideal for skiing, with the lifts all within easy walking distance. After a day on the slopes, the pool, sauna, and steam room were fantastic for relaxing. We also really enjoyed the mid-week entertainment—Pete Willie created such a fun atmosphere, and it was brilliant to see everyone dancing in their ski boots late into the evening! From the warm welcome by Mrs Berger (and her adorable dog!) to the overall family feel of the hotel, everything made our stay special. While the décor isn’t brand new, it’s great value for money and has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We would definitely recommend it! Thank you - Jessica & Nick

We’ve had a wonderful week here. The family was extremely welcoming and catered to our every want, notably our server for the week, Wilkin, who’s big smile and friendly welcome was something we looked forward to each meal. The rooms were very clean and the room cleaners worked around our flexible days for which we were very appreciative. It was very well located and within the great area of Saalbach. We will definitely come back.

Great central location, good food selection, welcoming staff checking everything okay with rooms and food etc, nice spa facilities, clean rooms. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here!

Location good for lifts and town. Rooms good and clean. Staff all friendly and helpful. Food good. Facilities all good. Lovely to have the swimming pool. I would recommend this hotel and would come back again. The only recommendation I would give is to have tea and coffee making Facilities in rooms.

The hotel is in a good position and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned daily and the beds were very comfortable. The shower had good water pressure and there was lots of hot water. Food was the best we have had in a ski hotel. Buffet breakfast with options of cereal, toast, fresh bread, pastries, fruits, yoghurt, meats,cheeses and a cooked option. Evening meal was a buffet starter with lots of choice and then a main which was a choice of 3, generally a pasta dish, meat dish and a vegetarian option. Then a wide choice of puddings and ice cream from the buffet. Catered well for all appetites and the whole group of 9 of us ate well. Mrs Berger checked in on us regularly and the dancing club below the hotel did not disturb us at all.

The hotel is well positioned in Saalbach close to ski uplifts, shops, bars etc. The rooms are well serviced, clean and of a great variety in size. There is a nice bar in the hotel and an excellent pool, steam room and sauna. The food is good and plentiful although not exciting, but adequate. It is a nice warm and comfortable place to stay for a ski holiday.
