Livo Hotel in Shanghai

I stayed here in 2017.

At the time, it seemed like a brand-new hotel, as it wasn't even on the map, so I took a taxi directly from the airport (I had given the taxi driver the address beforehand).

The building it's in is a small, office-like building with a modest elevator lobby. There wasn't a large sign at the entrance on the first floor, and for a moment I doubted if it was really a hotel.

You take the elevator up and there's the hotel.

Upon getting off on the hotel floor, there's a space to change into slippers.

It felt more like a Japanese inn than a hotel, and I found it very relaxing.

The staff were all very nice and kind, and the beautiful female owner (president?) speaks fluent Japanese!

It seems to have a Japanese concept, and they have a wide variety of drinks. There's a FamilyMart nearby, and lots of restaurants! I wanted to exchange money at a bank, and when I asked, they walked me to a nearby bank. The staff were truly kind.

The room was a Japanese-style room, but the bathtub was connected to the room, so it was a strange design where water would enter the room if you swung the showerhead around. However, the overall atmosphere was very Japanese and lovely. I would like to stay there again.

I was surprised when I ordered noodles for breakfast and was served tonkotsu ramen! The taste was like a healthier version of Japanese tonkotsu ramen, with slightly less salt! It was delicious.

It's a great place to stay, read, or just daydream. Perfect for those who prefer to shut down their phones. You can really feel the owner's thoughtfulness. It's a charming and unique hotel with thoughtful little touches and a pleasant atmosphere.
