It's not for the faint of heart. However, we were very happy. You can do laundry at the hotel and communicate in English.
On the plus side, there's a nice view from the window. On the minus side: in the morning, people cycling along the riverside promenade to work gave us a rude awakening. Cyclists in Shanghai have a terrible habit of constantly ringing their bells while riding—and I mean that literally. They only stop when they stop.
