Junling International Hotel in Shanghai

Yes, the hotel is old - yes, it is not perfect and time has added to this imperfection. But time had also added charm and dignity to this fantastic property.
Especially good is the service. Every request was met with a smile and the response of, "No problem". I am here on one week of self monitored quarantine before I can proceed to my next city - because I cannot leave my room, the concierge was kind enough to go to a nearby bank and exchange money for me...now THAT'S service. There was smoking on my non-smoking floor one night, and the hotel brought me an air purifier that cleared the smell right out. It arrived about ten minutes after I complained - that was fast!
Some inside rooms don't have windows to the outside world, they open onto an indoor garden area that runs down the center of the hotel. If this is a problem, simply request an outside room when making your reservation.
My host in the hotel was Carrie. She is a gem! Her attention to details and needs was impeccable - her desire to make sure I was happy, unmatched.
I HIGHLY recommend this hotel. It is a bit outside the city, but I saw on Google maps that there is a direct subway with a station two blocks away. There is a mall across the street, and plenty of places to eat visible from my window.

The rooms have been remodeled and are clean, spacious, and nice, but the first impression is not good because the lobby smells strongly of cigarettes.
