Right by the south side of the Yan'an Elevated Road, so getting onto the highway is super convenient. This hotel, under the Rongtong brand, is really good; the rooms are well soundproofed. Breakfast and the lobby service are both excellent. Plus, ordering takeout is a breeze!

The decor is a bit dated, but it's still fairly clean. The bathtub in the room drained a bit slowly, so you'd end up showering in half a tub of water. The service staff at breakfast were a bit stiff, but the ladies at the front desk were quite friendly. Overall, it was just an average experience.

Filthy! The room's carpet was really dirty, and a huge spider crawled out of the bed! The facilities are old and run down. The room door was broken and couldn't be locked, so I had to physically block it. The bedding and bathrobes all reeked of cigarette smoke.

Check-in and check-out were both smooth and quick. The hotel's room service was good, and the room was clean and tidy. There are many attractions and shopping malls nearby. The location is excellent, and ordering takeout is also very convenient. It's close to Exit 11 of Jing'an Temple Station on Metro Line 2. Overall, I was quite satisfied.
Friendly reminder: Rooms facing the street are close to an elevated highway, so you might hear continuous traffic noise. If this bothers you, you can opt for a quieter garden-view room.

Fantastic customer service, the location is great and very close to public transport. I’d recommend you stay in the main building, either go for city view or garden view, as the main building is much better than the North building and East building. Breakfast is good value for money. The garden is beautiful.

The Yan An Hotel is located at the convenience location at the Shanghai. It's near to the metro station and easy access to the Shanghai main attraction. This hotel can easily reach to the The Bund by car. Will stay at this hotel again in next visit to Shanghai.

You can always count on these old four-star hotels named after a color/city/region. For the same price, other hotels are either very remote or have inconvenient transportation. As long as you're okay with the last-century decor and somewhat dated facilities, then you can stay here with peace of mind.

I stayed at the Shanghai Yan An Hotel for New Year's Eve. Even though it's an older hotel, it offers great value for money. We had our New Year's Eve lunch in 2025 and New Year's Day breakfast in 2026 at the hotel's buffet restaurant. The breakfast buffet was definitely more extensive by comparison.

This is an older 4-star hotel, and its small inner garden in such a prime location is definitely a plus. The East Wing, though, isn't great value for money. The bed sheets weren't intentionally dirty, but it was very obvious and surprising they weren't noticed when made. However, after calling the front desk, they were replaced in about 20 minutes.

Excellent lunch restaurant in the park. Always a great experience. Friendly and tasty food. Great, quieter surroundings in the heart of Shanghai.
