Reviews
The Good: The rooms are very clean, fresh and new. The main restaurant has a huge buffet with a wide variety of regional food and everyone can find something they want. I’ve eaten in the Thai restaurant, which was very good, and I’ve heard the Chinese restaurant onsite is excellent too (from a co-worker that’s Chinese). The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. I don’t know if this is the true downtown of Kunming, but the hotel seems perfectly located to everywhere. Forty minutes from the airport (without traffic). There’s a nice shopping mall next to the hotel and a large outdoor shopping area just across the street that has a wide variety of food. Finally, I love how the top shelf of the refrigerator is free with the room. A few sodas, a beer and snacks are a nice touch. Traveler Tip: Check out the wild potato chip flavors they stock in the room. Be sure to try them so the maid restocks every day.
The Bad: Really, the only thing that needs mentioning are the warm rooms. The A/C in the rooms is not powerful enough to bring the rooms down to a comfortable temperature. I’ve been fortunate enough to stay in the suites, so maybe the smaller standard rooms are better. But it takes a solid 48 hours to get the rooms down to what I consider a reasonable 22c/72f. The rooms will drop another degree or two during the day if the room is empty, but climb right back up once you’re in the room and have the lights on. Still too warm for me. Build Maintenance can’t fix the issue either (I tried)
Room for Improvement: The internet is very slow. I’ve had rooms at both ends of the hotel and never had what’d I’d consider a decent connection speed. The executive lounge is also limited for breakfast and happy hour. It isn’t very popular, so maybe there isn’t enough demand for a bigger menu. Finally, while the staff is very friendly, their English is almost non-existent once you get past the front desk. It does make for some humorous ad-lib sign language and pointing sessions when asking the cleaning maid for more bottled water and shampoo.
I guve them and extra star for service because they tried to rectify some of the issues.
What truly stood out was the **warm and attentive staff**. They greeted us with genuine smiles, provided swift assistance, and made us feel valued throughout our stay.
The highlight? The **smart delivery robots**! Watching these cute gadgets zip around delivering snacks, towels, or toiletries was both **efficient and entertaining**. A perfect blend of innovation and convenience that added a unique charm to our experience.
Highly recommended for travelers seeking a clean, friendly, and tech-savvy stay in Kunming!
Deluxe City View King Room
This five-star hotel is full of experience and must be praised!
The front desk staff was very welcoming, with a genuine smile on their faces, and checked me in quickly and attentively.
The room is warm and comfortable, with soft bedding and a full range of supplies.
The hotel's breakfast has a rich variety, including Chinese and Western food, and the taste is amazing.
If I come to Kunming again, I will stay here again. praise!
I was going to check out today and move in to another hotel. The front desk manager, Ms. Yao found out my concerns and problems. She listens and tries to resolve the issues. She makes me feel respected and wants to help me. She runs up and down with me to change room. She sends a crew to check my previous room. Nonetheless, I'm in a much cooler room now, literally cooler.
Pt. 1
I've booked 4 nights from home, and later, when we got to China, a week before the check-in date, I realized I needed an extra night, so I booked it online. However, I didn't get any confirmation email, and money was not taken from my cc. I tried to call the place to ask them if they have my extra night booked. I've tried for three days, but I couldn't get through. I called back to the States and asked the customer service about my booking, they couldn't find it. They called the hotel twice but couldn't get through either. At the end, customer service finally found it.
Pt. 2
Got to the hotel, told they what happened. All they said was, they didn't have any miss-calls. She told me she has upgraded me to the "executive floor," and they will try to find the issue with the phone.
When I got to the room, I saw a piece of paper with a list of "privileges" that came with the room. I went to the lobby bar, the host told me I needed a voucher. I went back to the front desk, she told me my room was a free upgrade. Therefore, I do not have the privilege to enjoy the privileges. She did not tell me about it before. What she did was like upgrading me to a business class flight, but I have to use the lavatory at the economy class.
Pt. 3
The hotel room ac doesn't work. It is fixed on 25'C or 77'F. The room is so hot and you can not change it. They brought up a portable ac for me later.
Pt. 4
I found small bugs around the bathtub. I was confused about how they got here. I cleaned it up. The next day, I saw 2 more dead bugs. This time was at the toilet.
