Sofitel Kunming in Kunming

I've stayed here multiple times. It's one of the higher-value five-star hotels in Kunming. The room offers an expansive view, and everything is well-maintained, so you can't tell the hotel has been open for a while. The screen on the door that shows you the hallway gives a great sense of security. My only slight complaint is that the breakfast isn't as good as it used to be. Overall, I'm still quite satisfied.

I had planned my Yunnan trip a long time ago and booked the room in advance. Luckily, I received a pre-arrival call from Jessica at the front desk, who helped me realize I had accidentally made a duplicate booking, saving me from unnecessary costs! The room arrangement was very satisfying, with a direct view of Xishan and Dianchi Lake. The room was also very clean, and the bedding was super comfortable, which really helped to relieve the fatigue from my journey!

I had a great stay at the hotel, so much so that I extended it! Lydia provided excellent service; she was warm, friendly, and always happy to help with any questions. I was very satisfied with everything and had a really pleasant stay.

Our stay was absolutely fantastic! Heidi provided incredibly attentive and professional service, making the check-in process efficient and thorough. We felt right at home throughout our entire stay. Our high-floor room was spacious and elegant, with soft and comfortable bedding that truly showcased French sophistication in every detail. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered stunning lake views of Dianchi during the day and a breathtaking nightscape of Kunming after dark – the panoramic view from above was simply superb. Overall, our experience was perfectly comfortable, making this an excellent choice for anyone visiting Kunming.

After more than a year, I'm staying at Sofitel Kunming again. I'm a regular here, and my previous guest relations manager has moved on to a better position. This time, I was served by a lovely and generous new guest relations manager named Surui. She was incredibly warm and thoughtful. Seeing that my booking didn't include breakfast, she not only provided me with a complimentary breakfast but also a fruit platter. This gave me an even deeper appreciation for Sofitel's management. Originally, I never had breakfast at the hotel, preferring to go to the small shops on the street for the Lao Yuxi Lu Er Si, which I eat every time I come to Kunming. Regardless, I had a particularly happy trip this time!

The hotel service was absolutely fantastic! The day before our arrival, the guest relations manager, Amy, proactively contacted me to inquire about our estimated arrival time and room preferences. On the day of, she even called before we got to the hotel to let us know our room was ready and clean. Amy is not only lovely, but her service throughout our stay was incredibly attentive and professional. From guiding us through check-in to responding to our requests, she was meticulous and patient, answering all our questions. She actively checked in on our experience, was always available to help, and responded incredibly quickly. Her gentle yet enthusiastic demeanor made our first stay so warm and welcoming. We truly experienced the exquisite French service Sofitel is known for. It was superb!

I brought my child to Kunming for the spring break, and this hotel is absolutely amazing! I originally booked a Deluxe City View room, but the lovely front desk staff, Amy, suggested an upgrade to a 270-degree panoramic view room. The floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides offer truly stunning views – if you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the beautiful Kunming sunrise. The hotel's breakfast restaurant also boasts an incredible 360-degree unobstructed view. They have a wide selection of Chinese, Western, and local specialties, with plenty of hot and cold dishes – so many choices!

I was incredibly lucky to meet the lovely Suri during my stay at Sofitel Kunming. Her service was warm and attentive, and she handled everything efficiently and quickly. She processed my check-in swiftly and gave a concise yet thorough introduction to the hotel's facilities and the surrounding area. The hotel room itself was luxurious, comfortable, spacious, and spotlessly clean. During the day, I enjoyed panoramic city views, including the beautiful Dianchi Lake, and at night, I could admire the city lights. The restaurant offered a wide variety of fresh and delicious food. The executive lounge was quiet and elegant. All in all, it's an excellent choice, and I'll definitely choose this hotel again when I visit Kunming in the future 🏨.

First and foremost, I have to praise Suri. She's beautiful, kind-hearted, and highly skilled in her profession – truly thoughtful. Girls like her are a rare find these days.

Honestly, I can't find a single reason not to choose this hotel when visiting Kunming. Many people suggest staying in the old town, but frankly, it's completely uninteresting; it's all just commercialism. Others opt for hotels near Cuihu Lake, but to be honest, Cuihu Lake is quite ordinary and overly commercialized. Unless you're traveling with children, definitely don't book a hotel there. Some recommend staying by Dianchi Lake, but I can only tell you it gets pitch black at night, so what's the point?

However, choosing this hotel is absolutely the right decision. Firstly, you get a panoramic view of Dianchi Lake from a high vantage point – the scenery is breathtaking. Secondly, the room design is very stylish and impressive, quite high-end. The rooms are also incredibly spacious and bright, exactly what you'd expect from a high-quality hotel. For these reasons, I will recommend this place to all my friends and business partners visiting Kunming.

Finally, I have some feedback for certain staff members in the breakfast restaurant: during work hours, please don't joke around and be noisy. You are at work, not performing for an audience (the Northeastern lady in the breakfast restaurant, for example, was very proper, professional, and polite). Also, the role at the desk next to the front desk, I assume, is concierge? I observed that this position is mostly staffed by male employees, and every single one of them was unwelcoming, with stiff facial expressions and no smiles whatsoever. Either you dislike your job (if so, you're young enough to quit and find something you enjoy), or because the hotel is high-class and has hosted many important figures, you can't even bother to greet regular guests. If it's the latter, I want to tell you that it's precisely because of this high-caliber platform that you get to interact with important people. Without this platform, you are nothing. Therefore, you should strive to maintain this platform, not just sit there with grim faces watching guests come and go. I truly don't understand it. Your job is to treat all guests with enthusiasm, just as I, living in Tianjin (my home is in a tourist area of Tianjin), help every visitor to Tianjin that I can, free of charge. I do this because I welcome everyone to my hometown and want them to love it. If you lack even this sense of honor and are just working to earn a living, then what is the value of your life?

Exceeded all expectations! The hotel's central location in the city's commercial district made getting around incredibly convenient. It was spotlessly clean, and the room was spacious. Service was highly efficient, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offered an absolutely stunning view. The bedding was comfortable, and the hotel breakfast was rich and varied, also with a great view. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Kunming! A special thanks to Suri at the front desk for her exceptional efficiency.
