Villa Hotel in Dubrovnik

We just checked out from our second stay at the Villa Dubrovnik. The first trip was 2 1/2 years ago. It’s still lovely and amazing and likely the best hotel in Dubrovnik, but for £1000/night I’d expect a few things to be different. 1–too bad about the boat not being available anymore. 2–some of the facilities are showing their age (missing cushion covers) in a way that is a little off putting. But the biggest concern is 3–the bed was really uncomfortable. It was 2 beds pushed together and had a hard middle part and slopes to the sides. When checking out just now we mentioned the bed simply as a consideration for future reference and the person helping us didn’t even acknowledge our concern. Just kind of blankly looked at us. A little bit of care and consideration would go a long way. Some of life’s best experiences should be left as lovely memories and not revisited. Sadly that was the case with the Villa Dubrovnik for us this time around.

I had heard wonderful things about the hotel however I was disappointed. This was definitely not a "luxury" experience. I booked one of their ocean view deluxe rooms. When I first got to my room there were ants crawling all over the bathroom. Housekeeping came up and sprayed (photo of spray left in case they came back) which did clear up the problem but was definitely put off. The bathroom and shower were awful. To shower you had to climb into a tub and there was only a small hand held nozzle. Nothing Luxurious here! The Parking was an issue and there is not an attendant to help. Finally the hotel is not that close to town and you have to walk down a narrow path with cars and motorcycles speeding passed. The shuttle does not start running until after 3 PM and then only once an hour. For the money that was charged I have had better service and bathrooms in a Holiday Inn!
