Eligonia Hotel Apartments in Ayia Napa

I lost €200 from my room and immediately reported it to the hotel staff. Unfortunately instead of receiving help or having the situation properly investigated, the staff became very defensive. The conversation became so heated that my friend and I felt extremely uncomfortable and almost felt as though the staff were going to become physically aggressive towards us simply because we were reporting missing money.

I asked if they could check the CCTV to see if there was any clarification about what had happened, but apparently there was no footage available. The hotel never came back to us with any conclusion and did not seem interested in helping us investigate the situation.

What made it even more frustrating was being told by the lady at reception that in her 30 years, “something like this has never happened” and that the cleaning staff would never simply enter a room. From our experience this was completely different.

My friend and I actually wished the cleaning lady would come between 10–12 because we were often not ready to open the door when she knocked. On some occasions when we didn’t get to the door in time the cleaning staff would enter the room anyway without given any permission.

I obviously cannot prove who took my money, but after the way the situation was handled, I no longer feel comfortable trusting this hotel. I felt like my concerns were dismissed rather than taken seriously and for that reason I will never stay here again.

Apart from this situation, the rooms themselves were okay. However, the cleaning was not very good. The floors were not properly cleaned, and we had to complain to the staff because our room was not being cleaned properly.

Also if you are considering booking here, be aware that air conditioning costs an extra €7 per day
