Everything about the Porta Caucasia feel cheap and spartan. It’s a totally cheerless place. Our room was mercifully a bit larger than our previous hotels on this Cox & Kings tour but nothing about it seemed like an upgrade. Furnishings were basic, lighting was awful, power sockets few and far away, the shower leaked through the door. Yes, it was quiet and there was a grandstand view of majestic Mount Kazbegi, beyond the scruffy and haphazard townscape. We had a group dinner in the canteen-like restaurant which was just about OK which is more than can be said for breakfast the next morning. Simply dire. There was an outdoor terrace for sitting and dining but despite the warm weather it was closed.

We were here at the restaurant. We ordered wine and khinkali. Some of the most delicious khinkali with meat, so what. True, the dough is a bit thick, but the taste of the broth and meat is amazing. We also ordered with cheese - they are of a different, unusual shape and because of this the dough woke up a little badly. But also delicious. The terrace offers a beautiful view of the Trinity Church and Kazbek. A nice place to catch your breath, eat and at the same time look at the beautiful view of the mountains.

Visited this hotel as part of a group tour of the Caucasus. The drive there was pretty lengthy but it was worth it. The dinner and breakfast were good. The group had a set menu at dinner but when I told them I was a veggie they didn’t hesitate to provide me with something different. The young man behind the bar spoke excellent English and was so helpful The best thing about this hotel was location location location. To wake up to the view of the mountain from your bedroom window was one of the hilights of the hotel So why only 4 stars I hear you say? The hotel lacked any atmosphere and the decor a little dull. But that view was worth 10 stars

We stayed in room 209, which had a comfortable king-size bed, perfect for an overnight stay. Receptionist Ashura was very helpful and accommodating. Although there is no A/C in the room, it's not necessary since it gets quite cold outside. If it feels warm, simply open the window.

I stayed here in downtown Kazbegi for 3 nites. I got a big room with a sitting room & balcony for 1/3 of what Rooms Hotel was charging. This hotel has a winery, & their wine shop provides free glasses of wine for guests. I was a little surprised there is no AC in this modern hotel. The breakfast included the offer of omelettes & espresso etc. The restaurant has a nice covered outside balcony, tho’ I did not have dinner here. The bed was super comfortable. The staff was wonderful.

Mr Otto at the reception is extremely arrogant rude and unfriendly he was speaking to his guest like trash and disrespectful he is unkind and does not bring a pleasant experience to his guest at the outset itself and refuses to hear any request of his guests come what may…tail on the other hand is extremely understanding and polite

we went in restaurant, the food was 3 days old, the bread and pasta was not breaking from oldness. meat poorely cooked. prices not tolerable and the service worst the girl was angry on everyone, we thought we made her offended in order to visit the place. we wouldn't recommend even pas by this place! worst experience.
