Best Hotels in Berchtesgaden

As I type this review on a plane back to the States, I hope this is only a "see you later" and not truly a "goodbye

The hotel is modern, dreamy and exceptionally clean. I am extremely picky when it comes to cleanliness and Kempinski, as always, did not disappoint at all. Everything felt immaculate and very well maintained

The service at the front desk and concierge was impeccable, very professional, warm and genuinely friendly. Room service and overall service throughout the hotel were excellent as well

The spa was solid and offered all the basic, well-functioning amenities one would expect. I’ve stayed at spa hotels with more impressive facilities, but this one still delivers a good overall experience

We had a perfect week at this hotel. Incredibly friendly, some very young, staff, excellent quality food, tastefully decorated hotel in a fantastic location

The hotel is very couple- and family-friendly, and one thing I truly appreciated was how quiet and uncrowded it felt. Even though the hotel was fully booked during our stay, we barely ran into other guests

I think mainly due the fabulous relaxed atmosphere mixed with good quality service , amazing amenities and compared to English prices, really not expensive

This was our second time coming to the hotel. This time we stayed for a week. As always, the breakfast bar was fantastic and didn’t disappoint. Our waiter was Felix and he was great and helpful in so many ways

The pool area is so lovely, with beautiful views from the indoor and outdoor pool. The breakfast includes an amazing choice with a huge buffet and pancakes/waffles and eggs made to order

Everything is super good. Bus stop is right outside of the hotel, easy to go to hauptbanhof.

Staff is nice, breakfast is great But the hotel is quite old, there’s no lift from G-2/F Arrivals need to carry baggages with them and walk upstairs. But the room is big and cosy! And it’s clean as well!

Loved my stay here! Staff kept my luggage before check in and provided me free of charge a guest mobility card so I could travel around for free! Location is prime between train station and old town

My room was simple but very clean and very comfortable. Complimentary water on room and tea/coffee by the reception. Breakfast buffet starts at 7am and had a very large variety of items

The menus was concise but plenty of choice for a medium sized hotel in this region. Stephanie and Rachel were so helpful and their support sorting out the booking issues was so helpful

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Alpenhotel Fischer. The staff were lovely, speaking great English but being patient in letting me try speaking German too. Hotel facilities were great with breakfast being a highlight

The Hotel is a bit old, but the room was very comfortable and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is probably the best aspect. It's a 5 minutes drive to the Königssee parking lot

Booked a balcony room thru Expedia but initially received a non Balcony room. Front desk quickly resolved the issue with a great balcony room. Super clean and modern bath. Breakfast was excellent!

This hotel was across the road from where we stayed. Only restaurant on the mountain. Fixed my wife and I a “carry out” of meats and cheeses to enjoy from our balcony across the street

The location is quiet, outside Berchtesgaden, perfect for someone who loves quiet and peaceful, lots of parking directly in front of the property, which has an inviting outside area with lots of different outdoor furniture, patio heaters, blankets and even in the colder evenings of October it was enjoyable to have drinks outside

The Alpenhotel Bergzauber is really an idyllic and familiar place. Very warm welcome and you felt at home right from the start of your stay

The hotel is run by two super lovely people, and you can tell how much time and love they invest in the hotel. Both come from the area and always have good tips on what to do in the vicinity

It's called a single room, but it can actually accommodate two people. The room is not small and has a balcony. The facilities and hygiene are excellent

The hotel environment is also quite good, with a good blend of ancient and modern. It's a typical German family hotel

Limited bar snacks were good, but it seems a hotel hotel of this size could support a restaurant, particularly as there is not much else around

Great overnight stay for a stop off. Had a lovely walk into the town, great location. Free breakfast, was upgraded to a balcony room which was spacious and clean. The hotel decor is beautiful, lots of plants

There is even a small bathtub inside the bedroom, which is a wonderful and thoughtful feature — especially for people who are sensitive to the cold. It really made a big difference and added to an overall excellent stay

This is one of my favourite place on the earth. The view and the place are from a fair tale

It’s a short walk from the nearest bus stations (the 843 bus stop is closer and flatter than the 840), not a big deal except when you have lots of luggage trying to climb up the hill from the 840 stop

The rooms seem a bit aged but pretty clean. Breakfast is nice and has a lot of bread and deli options, but dinner is mediocre and quite overpriced. People working the front desk are friendly

If you open your room windows just expect there to be bugs that fly in, even on a top floor (it’s normal)

I am sure I have come back a few pounds heavier!! This was my third visit and the standards continue to be high. The 5 nights for 4 is such good value

Then the sun came out which meant we could sit in the outside jacuzzi and look at the mountains whilst breathing in the fresh mountain air- wonderful. The food was exquisite, as usual

It is very, very beautiful here! People are super friendly and helpful. You can really feel at home here. And there is a breathtaking view as a man enjoys his generous breakfast.

It is not the fault of the people who really did their best, you see that they try. But mismanagement did all kinds of things. The room was good, the cleaning staff friendly

I don’t understand the complaints about beds being hard but in a region for sports and hiking, these are the best kind of beds to support your sore muscles. Will def choose to stay here again

Excellent concept for a hotel catering to adventure travelers. Room was basic but was clean, bright and open with plenty of storage and charging. Sauna facilities for a room at this cost was amazing

The location is one of its best features — it’s very close to the bus stop that takes you directly to Königssee, which made exploring the area super convenient

Good location, room was also fine, nice view. The only bad thing we could find was the additional charge. The restaurant menu states that you can get coffee and tea with your room pass, which is fine

We came here on our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and super helpful. They even packed us a lunch for our long train ride when we left. The restaurant was very good with delicious dessert

The room was clean and tidy. The location is excellent. The boat ride to Lake Königssee is right outside the hotel, which is very convenient. The breakfast was very rich, with a variety of hams and breads to choose from.

This hotel was great! Staff was Super friendly (especially Alex!) they were very accommodating and friendly. *note there are no elevators there, so if that is an issue for you…I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We booked the family suite for ourselves and very much enjoyed the resting bed on the terrace. Food was high quality for a buffet and bar had great ambiance. Very relaxing stay, didn’t want to leave

Visited with aging parents, and this hotel delivered for everyone. The staff was patient with my parents who were not familiar with language or culture, and the facilities were outstanding

We wanted to see Königssee and spent quite some time unsure of which hotel to choose, until we discovered Villa Sonnenhof. Then the decision was made instantly

We stayed for 4 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The accommodations are modern, clean and have a beautiful mountain view. The Fuchs family are lovely and perfect hosts

It's about a 10–12 minute walk to the town center with all the restaurants and shops. Getting to Königssee by car takes around 25–30 minutes

Hotel has pretty views and very nice staff. Everything was clean but the beds were so soft and sunken in that it was extremely difficult to sleep or have any comfort in the bed

The hotel is very nice, parking is convenient, it's right next to the Magic Forest and close to the town of Ramsau, the breakfast is excellent, and there's a large balcony with mountain views.

Nice hotel, breakfast is also good, the view as well. It's quiet old for this price tho. There is inclusive salad buffet for dinner time. The sauna was a bit small (maybe max 4persons), but still good

Breakfast did the job and had pretty views from the dining room. Shower had good pressure but we had issues getting hot water at night. Maybe because others were showering at a similar time

What an amazing hotel! We stayed 4 nights, staff was so helpful (especially Lisa was so helpful and nice to communicate, you should definitely give her a pay rise!) It was served as a 5-course menu, with a choice of three standard options and one specially designed for pregnant guests. It was great to have options while also trying something new each evening

You can also ask to rent the car port for 5/ night which I think is good at least for your first and last night if you have a lot of luggage , otherwise parking nearby not an issue if their lot is full

5 hours from Hallstatt—all quite convenient! Facilities: Basically complete, adequate for a stay! The sofa bed had a sagging corner, and I felt like I was about to fall off! Food: The breakfast was plentiful, and the restaurant had a warm, romantic atmosphere with its pastel-colored decor! This restaurant was my favorite! Parking: There's an underground garage, and after checking in, you get a receipt...

What was unique was the peaceful surroundings and mountain views. Staff was unusually helpful, pleasant and polite. Manuella at the desk always greeted us with a smile and deserves 5 stars fro her service

They should just find a place and install self srvice machines, as then people would plan longer stays there because the peace and tranquility that comes from the mountain views is super amazing

We enjoy the quiet location and the beautifully renovated and very comfortably furnished turn of the century Villa that leaves nothing to want. The breakfast Buffet is fabulous with regional specialties

We were welcomed and given our guest cards, the first time we were given an explanation that these gives free bus travel; this was really useful as we had to take a bus the next day

In all a great hotel and I would recommend. Just a few things that, for me let it down just a bit. We were placed in a disabled/ accessible room. It meant we had a huge shower but also bars

You receive a friendly welcome, get tips for excursions and information about the local area, you can quickly walk into town and still have a quiet location, the rooms are good with a great view but you don't travel to Bad Reichenhall just for the rooms, thank you for the fabulous service and we would gladly return

In a quiet and convenient location, ideal for exploring the surroundings, bicycles and even a plane with Pilot for a flight (Watzmann, Wilder Kaiser, Königssee, ...). ***** Late arrival or early bird, no Problem.

Great, beautiful and quiet location. Plenty of hiking tracks in the area. Accommodation was spacious and clean. There is a small lake where you can swim and row. The lady who is running it is very polite and friendly

The "travel group Walther" was a guest in this beautiful hotel this weekend. The service, the food, this all-round carefree package. Unfortunately, you can only give 5 stars, but it should really be 10

My wife and her family have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Great place to decompress and tap into old world Germany. The service is always A++ and the owner/chef is top notch
