Reviews
Every room has a view of the mountains and forests surrounding Berchesgaden and Obersalzberg.
Will arrange to come back. Heidi the owner and host is fantastic. Full of information, ideas and energy.
Wonderful place full of happy memories
Addendum: The Breakfast buffet would be a sixth star!
Beautiful quiet location with a private pond (rowing boat session?) :-) We really had nothing to complain about, the Breakfast buffet rich and with a lot of love designed rooms and especially the bathroom was very spacious, Service is excellent, super friendly and funny ! Feel-good character 1A+ !
If we should break to the rich hall of the Gablerhof is again the first choice. Thank you for the beautiful days !
The lovable Boss is a joy when you have Breakfast Buffet in the morning to the sensational early. She is always there and no request is too much for her. Particularly the daily changing ,fantastic desserts and cakes ,are a heavy temptation for the figure.
The idyllic lake, with rowing boat, conveys an entirely new holiday feeling. This is not least due to the magnificent location of the farm.
The rooms, with large bathroom and balcony, clean and quiet.
The team is friendly and always responsive when it comes to special requests.
I'm always happy to come back , even if it's only for a couple of days.
There was plenty more hiking to do, and many more castles to see, but we would not have returned if it weren't for the Gablerhof. And everything was just as perfect as it was before!
As I said in the previous review, the room was perfect - comfortable bed, plenty of space, modern bathroom with great shower, a comfortable sitting area for the evening, a great big wardrobe to hang things, a lovely view over the lake and mountains from the balcony. Everything immaculately clean!! And great attention to detail. For example, there were two sets of towels in the bathroom each set a different color, so you knew whose towels were whose. And two towel racks so everyone had a place to hang their towels. (Good luck finding that in another hotel!) Loved the double sinks, so we each had our own.
The Gablerhof is in a peaceful residential neighborhood just outside the town. Very quiet. Plenty of car parking for the hotel. A nice little church nearby for a pleasant evening walk. A 5-minute drive into the town for dinner. About a half-hour drive to Berchtesgaden area and wonderful hiking!!
Our hosts, Heidi and Georg, were delightful as before - very friendly and helpful and efficient with everything.
The breakfasts are amazing!!! Georg is more behind the scenes doing cooking and baking. Along with all of the other breakfast items on the buffet, Georg bakes a fresh homemade cake every day. My husband and I fell in love with his erdbeer kuchen(fresh strawberries atop a short-bread-type cake) and his rhubarb cake topped with meringue. And as before, the buffet is full of excellent choices. If you want to be healthy, there is always fresh fruit and fresh vegetables, yogurt, muesli-type stuff like nuts and dried fruit, cereals, whole-grain breads, fruit jams, and some type of fish. Or, if you just want deliciousness, there are always eggs and breakfast meats, fresh croissants, sliced lunchmeats/salami/ham and cheeses. And the cakes!
Heidi is amazing. She runs around clearing tables and replenishing the buffet, all the while smiling, asking people if everything is ok, answering questions about sightseeing and hiking, and conversing with guests in a variety of languages. And her delightful humor started our day with a smile!
I can't even believe we're saying this, but it looks like we will be returning year after next!
The breakfasts that Heidi and Georg served each morning were amazing! Plenty of fresh and dried fruits ...especially the fresh strawberries, which were in season. A variety of fresh breads and jams and cereals. A variety of sliced cold cuts and cheeses. A hot egg dish and a hot meat dish that varied each morning. And some sort of fish - shrimp, smoked salmon, herring - each day. And it was so lovely eating out on the terrace each morning, overlooking the fields and a pretty church and the mountains. How could you not have a good day with a start like that?
The Gablerhof is not in downtown Bad Reichenhall, but across the river Saalach in a quiet residential area. We found this to be a very GOOD thing. We had the peace and quiet and ease of parking outside town, but were only a few minutes away by car. Heidi showed us a little free parking area on the hotel side of the river, and you could just walk across the bridge and into town...about 15 minutes. There was also a little lot just on the edge of the Old Town where we parked every night for dinner.
The Gablerhof's location is perfect. It is an easy half-hour train ride from Bad Reichenhall into Salzburg, where we found one full day of sightseeing to be enough. Better still, it is an easy 45-minute drive to the heart of Berchtesgadenerland National Park. We spent four glorious days hiking and exploring the beautiful Konigssee, the Jenner, the Hintersee and Ramsau area....
For dinner near the hotel, we highly recommend Delphi Greek Restaurant in Old Town Bad Reichenhall, where we ate four of our nights...it was THAT good.
Delightful hotel with excellent food, convenient location, and very pleasant, helpful, efficient hosts with an eye for making every detail perfect!! We would return any time, and we highly recommend it!!
